The Sockers have a rich championship tradition and have featured some of the greatest teams the game has ever seen. The 8- MASL season might be their finest yet, finishing with a -game winning streak. All of this against teams that keep improving. Many of those opponents are led by ex-Sockers. The #-seeded San Diego Sockers2 won the 2019 MASL2 Cup Final “-” over Cuervos Juarez at Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario on March 30. Rene Flores scored three goals and the defense held on during the frantic final two minutes. San Diego finished the season with a 14-0 record (12-0 regular season & - playoffs) and it is the first ti - tle for the San Diego Sockers developmental team in their two-year history. Head coach Rene Ortiz told the team, "We began this in October and your hard work paid off today with a championship." # PAUL WRIGHT PLAYED IN ¸ DIFFERENT ERAS OF SOCKERS’ FRANCHISES The popular forward’s jersey will hang in the San Diego rafters for all time. THE SOCKERS ALUMNI GAME WAS FUN

The Sockers hosted their annual Alumni Game during half- time of the April 7th game. The contest pitted the Team Ÿž8šs/Ÿžžšs against Team ‚šššs. This is the first time that the game has featured this format. Team ‚šššs defeated Team Ÿž8šs/Ÿžžšs 4-2 in a fun-filled 12-minute match.

SOCKERS BROADCAST TEAM Craig Elsten enters his eighth season as the “Voice of CATCH UP ON SOCKERS the Sockers”, and will provide play-by-play for the Sockers’ INFORMATION DURING 12 home games. Previously, Elsten was the broadcast THE MASL PLAYOFFS voice for all of the Sockers’ games from their restart in 2009 through the 2014-15 season, also serving in that time as the team’s media relations director.

Nate Abaurrea is returning for his third season as part of the Sockers broadcast team. Since arriving in San Diego in 2016, Abaurrea has called Liga MX matches in English for the Xolos of Club Tijuana and has been behind the microphone for matches in the USL, PDL, and NPSL here in Southern California.
