Course Schedule All courses run Monday – Friday including the week of June 29th – July 3rd. Courses are scheduled for either the morning or afternoon and vary from 2- to 4-hours.

Black Rocket Courses Black Rocket has twenty years of experience designing camps in the S.T.E.A.M fields. Every program is powered by the camper’s innate imagination and designed to bring their ideas to life in a fun, hands-on learning environment. From concept to creation students will demonstrate their masterpiece to the world at the end of each week! All Black Rocket programs mirror real-life experiences and the collaborative nature of the design process. Students will work in pairs or teams for most of the program.

All courses are closed the Wednesday before the start date. Black Rocket sends an email the Wednesday prior to class with software instructions. Software must be downloaded in advance. Monday’s class will focus on instruction, not tech support. If you need assistance please visit blackrocket.com or refer to the appointment link in their email.

Cancellation Policy for Summer 2020 Virtual Youth Programs Notification must be received in writing by the end of the first-day of the online youth program to receive a full refund minus a $25 processing fee. If the written cancellation is received on the second day of class, parents will receive credit towards another youth program course during the current summer session. Summer Life Online – Grades 4 to 9 Summer Life Online offers a morning and afternoon class for the fee of $199.00. The instructors are NJ state certified teachers and have worked with Summer Life on Campus in previous years. They have teamed up and adapted the Summer Life on Campus schedule to fit our new social distancing reality.

Being on a team is one of the best feelings in the world! Unfortunately, we had to take a break from our teams to do our part in helping the world get healthy again. Teamwork is a vital life skill because no matter what or where we are, we are almost always going to have to work with others, so why not have some fun doing it? (9:30AM – 11:30AM) Celebrity Athletes

Think of your favorite athlete, the one you look up to most. Have you ever thought about what they’ve done to get so fast, strong, or powerful? Have you ever watched them in their sport and felt like you want to play like they do? Guess what! You can and as long as you work hard, you will! In the Celebrity Athletes virtual class, we will research chosen athletes, their workout routines, and their training schedules. Then, we will complete these workouts together as a group! Anyone that beats Coach A. in the workout, either by finishing earlier or doing more repetitions in a time limit, gets to pick the celebrity athlete’s workout we do next! We will also take a look at the recommended amount of physical activity for our age group and the benefits that come from regularly meeting these recommendations. Then, we will become personal trainers and create an effective training schedule for a partner that includes workouts with exercises specific to that person!

Not all movies are filmed with actors and actresses, some like The Nightmare Before Christmas, Frankenweenie,Wallace and Gromit, and The Fantastic Mr. Fox, are filmed with puppets, clay, and ordinary objects. Learn the basics of Stop-Motion movies and make your own movie. • Students will plan, script, stage, shoot, and produce their own mini-movie using Stop Motion Animation. • Working as a team, students will use many different components to build the set and props, then shoot their movie using an iPad. • Teams will use movie-making software to add special effects, titles, credits and more. • When the movie is complete, campers will impress friends and family with a screening party on the last day of camp.

The “Love Acting” workshop is intended for kids and teens with no experience but love acting and singing or performing overall, but have never had the chance to try it. The course is meant to help them discover their talent within. Have you ever felt tired in the middle of the day? Do you feel hungry a lot of the time? I know this may sound crazy, but often times, those things happen because we aren’t getting what we need nutritionally! Did you know that there are 6 essential nutrients that should be found in the food we eat every day? Did you know that most Americans do not eat the recommended amount of each nutrient every day? If we want to feel happy and energetic, sleep well, and find it easier to achieve our goals, we have to pay attention to what we put in our bodies! We only get one!

In this class, we will learn about the essential nutrients, recommended daily amounts of each for our age group, and food products that are good sources of these nutrients! As a group, we will discuss why someone’s goal should not be to get skinny, but to get healthy. We will take a look at and compare nutrition labels from common household foods, evaluate whether the brands that advertise as healthy actually are healthy, and create a weekly meal plan for our families on a specific budget, using store circulars and websites to stay within that budget.

Elementary Summer Bridge Reading Program: First and Second Grade; Third and Fourth Grade Reading should be fun and engaging! The purpose of the Summer Bridge Reading Program is to improve students reading success from first through fourth grade. Students will be enriched with reading strategies, visualization, and multimedia to keep their focus on learning with hands-on, computer-based, individual, and group activities. This is a two week intensive reading and writing program with a variety of differentiated activities focusing on the development of language, reading, and writing skills. (1:30 – 3:30PM) Summer Math Review & Recovery - 2 Weeks: 7/27-8/7/20

In this course word problem worries will be no more as students learn how to locate the key words and important information they need to successfully tackle each problem as well as strengthen their computation skills to prepare them for the next grade level. Through differentiated instructional strategies, students will work through a variety of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and 10 division problems and develop strategies to master fraction computations. Students will use hands on manipulatives to strengthen their understanding of standard computational algorithms and visualization to help with mental math skills. Avoid the summer slide and send your student back to school ready with a solid foundation of essential basic math skills! In addition to the thorough editing process and development of essays and resumes, Padlet and Canva is another platform that will be utilized so that the students within the course can collaborate with one another about college discussions to have a community of learners with the same common goal in mind: success! Students will also develop a better understanding of available funding sources for college as well as actions they can take, such as taking some classes at 2 year colleges and how to effectively search and apply for scholarships that can reduce the cost of their education.
