Homecoming 2013: Internal Communications Guide Homecoming events for alumni and friends take place October 18-20 and feature more than 20 events, including parties and gatherings, networking opportunities, alumni reunions, and the Alumni Tailgate Row Party and Temple vs. Army Football Game. In conjunction with Homecoming 2013, the university will celebrate the formal inauguration of Dr. Neil D. Theobald as Temple’s 10th president. Theobald: As part of the celebration of the inauguration of Temple University President Neil D. Theobald, academic symposia will be held at various locations throughout Temple’s Main Campus. Friday, October 18: • Temple Basketball Cherry & White Night: Basketball season’s right around the corner! Bring the whole family to the Liacouras Center to meet the 2013-2014 Temple Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams. Friday, October 18, and Saturday, October 19: • The Temple News Reunion: Celebrate the cherished history of The Temple News during a weekend celebration featuring a panel discussion, tours of Main Campus and the student newsroom, a special reception and more. Saturday, October 19: • Diamond Marching Band Alumni Gathering: Pack up your instruments, find your old sheet music and gather with fellow Diamond Band alumni for a breakfast reception, brief rehearsal and the traditional Homecoming game halftime performance. • Temple Residence Life Reunion: Connect and reminisce with former Temple Residence Life alumni over delicious food and drinks during a special reception. • Alumni Tailgate Row Party, hosted by the Greater Philadelphia Chapter of the TUAA: The Temple University Alumni Association is hosting the biggest tailgate of the year, and has all of the ingredients to kick off an extra-special Football Saturday in Philly. Enjoy your favorite tailgating treats, music, games, face painting, giveaways and much more! o The first 2,000 people to register online for the Alumni Tailgate Row Party get a FREE Temple scarf. One scarf per registrant; you must be present at Tailgate Row to pick up your scarf. • Temple vs. Army Football Game: Celebrate Homecoming 2013 with an extra-special Football Saturday in Philly as the Temple Owls take on Army! o Special alumni discounted game tickets available online via alumni.temple.edu/Homecoming through October 18 with the special offer code TUOWLS. Sunday, October 20: • Homecoming 5K Run and Family Fun Walk: Wrap up the weekend on a healthy note and enjoy a beautiful jog—or walk—around Main Campus. o Awards will be given out to the fastest adult and child (under 12), and male and female runners and walkers. o Participants get a free, limited-edition Temple T-shirt, while supplies last Homecoming 2013: Staff Guide | 3 Most programs are free, but you need to register in advance to reserve your spot.
