STANDARD INDUSTRIAL CLASSIFICATION FIRST EDITION, JUNE 1991 CODING INDEX Occupation and Industry Coding occupation codes range from 1 to 350: they are taken from Classification of Occupations and coding index 1980, oPCS. The codes are listed on pages 6 to 109. The Standard Industry Classification 1980 was used on the survey but the activities were converted to Census Industry Codes. Anyone wishing to use INDUSTRY codes from the Retirement Survey should refer to the attached document: Standard Industrial Classification Coding Index, June 1991. This gives the Census codes. Some changes have been made since the time of coding so the Coding Index does differ from that used for the Retirement Survey.
