In recent times, Canadian tennis has enjoyed many historic achievements, including a first Grand Slam singles title at the 2019 US Open as well as a first appearance in the Davis Cup final in Madrid and increased participation and interest in the sport. We are a team of innovators, who are passionate about our work and pursue excellence together everyday. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR? VICE-PRESIDENT, TENNIS PARTICIPATION and PARTNERSHIPS Reporting to the CEO, the Vice-President will lead, develop, and execute a Tennis Canada participation strategy in support of the mission to lead the growth of tennis in Canada. As a member of the Senior Management Team (SMT), the Vice-President will lead the team that will cover all participation and amateur competition drivers, except high performance tennis. A key objective is attract and retain as many players as possible, with a particular focus on youth. The VP and their team will develop and maintain numerous influential relationships including Provincial and Territorial Tennis Associations (PTA), Sport Canada, ITF, National Tennis Federations, and key customers (like coaches through Tennis Professionals Association (TPA), municipalities through year-round community tennis court program, etc. Key responsibilities: • PTA relationship and funding • TPA management and coach certification and education (with a particular emphasis on equity, diversity and inclusion) • Safe sport • Covered courts advocacy, investment, and monitoring • Indoor facility consulting & investments • Community tennis (including underserved, wheelchair and seniors) • Competitive structure (including national rankings, tournament management system, calendar management, etc) • National tournaments (including Jr. Nationals, Sr. Nationals, Wheelchair, U-Sports Champs, etc) • Technology application • Women and Girls’ tennis development • Work closely with Corporate Partnerships & Fund Development on servicing and sales opportunities for tennis development assets; and with Marketing, Communications and Digital to proactively promote many of the remit tennis development areas Key external partnerships: PTA, TPA (Course Facilitators, TPA Advisory Board), Sport Canada, COC, ITF, major tennis federations, coaching association of Canada, PB Canada, VR & Club-Spark, equipment distributors, external delivery partners (Boys & Girls Clubs, municipalities, Jane & Finch Community Tennis) and key corporate partners (National Bank (Women and Girls, TPA), Rogers & Canadian Tire Jumpstart (year round community tennis courts). An outstanding business executive and leader who has a love of sport, a good knowledge of the business of recreation sport and has extensive experience working with external partners.
