"My Wing Marks " 12th Personal Exhibit Dubai Having spent her hours in the infinite depths of the Internet for the past 6 years, Tumay Gunes Tartar enriches the visuals of all her glassceramic wall panel works with illustrative illusion effects, which she has designed, produced, and applied to living spaces for 20 years. She turns these designs that she has brought into existence on digital platforms into "Digital Surfaces," with her own words, by transferring them to "mixed media" textures in which she uses various materials. When the production process is analyzed, the effects of all her works she has produced thus far can be clearly seen. It can also be seen that the artist has used tactile and percievable threedimensional materials, breaking the inaccessability of digitalism in her recent productions. With the sharp transformation of this "Transferring My Ceramics in Living Spaces to Digital Surfaces," she questions the concepts of civil liberties in the surfaces she has designed, creating figures that touch upon the social scars reflected in some of her works. The symmetry that all living creatures in the universe sustain revelas conscious meanings, transferring the recurring motions to all figures and forms.

Press Release: The Turk Who Dresses Up Mustafa Sandal and Paris Hilton

Tumay Gunes, who designed special Tshirts for Paris Hilton, is known not only by her textile products, but also with her wall tiles. Her new goal is to introduce her designs to a wider audience.

The textile designer and ceramic artist Tumay Gunes, who designed tshirts and shirts for celebrities like Mustafa Sandal and Paris Hilton, sets off to create her own brand. Tshirts she designed are now on sale in Designer Corners of Boyner stores. She also has been making tshirts and beach cloth designs for Polo Garage for two years with the brand name "Polo Garage by Tumay Gunes" and they are sold in stores both in Turkey and abroad.

The first person who discovered Tumay Gunes's Tshirts and shirts is Mustafa Sandal, the wellknown Turkish pop music star. Gunes met with his mother, Tulin Ileri, in a trade show in 1996. Tulin Ileri had special ceramic works of Gunes installed in the pool and in some of the rooms of his son's villa in Istanbul. Mustafa Sandal has been wearing "serigraph printed" shirts designed and manufactured with ecological fabrics by Gunes for the last two years.

Paris Hilton is another celebrity who wears her special design Tshirts. Hilton came to Turkey in March 2008 for a beauty contest organized by a TV network and was introduced with the work of Gunes by Mustafa Sandal. Gunes designed and manufactured two sugarpink colored Tshirts by using serigraph print technique. She printed her initials, P and H, on the Tshirts and added little shiny spangles to create a heightened sense of decoration. Hilton wore one of the Tshirts in Istanbul and on her flight to Germany and also during her stay there.

"My Designs Bring Luck to Wearers" Tumay Gunes, who started designing career by ceramic works, organized ten exhibitions. She uses fire clay and for uniqueness she adds colorful glass granules which melt with the heat. Her designs are totally spontaneous. She says, "I listen to my inner voice and work on the wet clay as it directs and inspires me." She also says, "When the designing finishes and I take one step back from the work, I see that it has an Art Nouveau style. There is a personal, intimate touch in my art. Those who are familiar to my work, when they come across a work of mine, can easily say 'This is a product of Tumay Gunes'. I've been working for sixteen years on wall tiles and patterns. I thought it was the time to set sail to new horizons and transferred my patterns from wall tiles to clothes. I do Haute Coutre. I've got more than two thousand tile designs, all registered. In my tshirt designs I use them to create endless possibilities. I love most to work with artists. Because they know the exact meaning of artistic creation and freedom and let me work freely. This gives me much more satisfaction from the work I do. Not only artists, but also everyone who is meticulous on what he or she wears request special works from me. I also believe that my clothes bring luck to their wearer. My next goal is to reach to a wider audience with my own brand."
