Kevin Bienemann Dear Fellow Students, President While talking with some students here at St. John's concerning what they would like Louis Morandi to change about SJU, the one answer that I repeatedly heard was student apathy or lack Vice President of enthusiasm. For instance, how many of you know that the Redmen Soccer team is Margaret Browne currently undefeated (7-0-1) and is ranked seventh in the nation (1st in New York Treasurer State). Participation and pride in your school can make your educational experience one to remember. Elena Napolitano Secretary When I first came to St. John's I was a typical uninvolved student. I drove for an hour and a half so that I could go to class, turn around and go home. I hated St. John's. But in my sophomore year I pledged my fraternity, Beta Epsilon Rho, and I became involved in Student Govemnient. I eventually became involved in the New Student Orientation Program. Now, I could not imagine having attended a different school. I have learned a lot about myself and others at St. John's and a large portion of that has come outside the classroom in the many activities in which I participate. St. John's has given me the confidence I need to succeed in life. This is what the role of a university is — to prepare its students for the real world.

Classroom education is only one facet of the diamond. In order to truly get the most out of your time hear, you must get involved. You pay an activity fee which funds many of the activities on campus, so you might as well get the most out of it. St. John's University has something for everyone. No matter what you're interested in or enjoy doing, it can probably be found on this campus, intramural sports, Greek life, cultural organizations, academic organizations, sporting events, mixers, parties, comedy nights, just to name a few of the literally hundreds of opportunities for you to get involved with on campus.

So please don't make the same mistake I did. Take advantage of what the St. John's community has to offer you. Don't make coming to school a chore, make it a great experience. You won't be sorry.

Sincerely,
