Course Topic The World of Course Outline

We will study the animations of Hayao Miyazaki Centering on “Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind,” we will conduct analyses on what art actually is, what an author is, etc., through watching the film. By analyzing the films, we will propose various ideas regarding methods or perspectives for researching literary works. We will also discuss literary works written by Sartre and Gide and Grimm’s Fairy Tales, etc. We will read through the works of Hayao Miyazaki from a wide-ranging perspective and by using various methods, such as by making comparisons with Disney animations. Lectures will be conducted based on the premise that all students have already seen the major works of Hayao Miyazaki. Moreover, only keywords/phrases are mentioned in the schedule below and lectures may not necessarily be conducted in this order. Course Schedule
