CAN NILAYA.Pdf THE ISLAND IBIZA, often called the White Island - la isla Blanca, is the most beautiful of 3 Balearic islands. With its amazing cove beaches and high towering cliffs, densely covered with pine trees, it is the per- fect place to spend your holidays. Its capital Ibiza Town - Eivissa Vila in Catalan, one of Europe’s oldest towns was founded by the Carthaginians and grew into an important fortress town until it many hundreds years later became the capital of the Pituses (Pine-islands - formed by Ibiza and Formentera). Ibiza’s municipalities: Sant Josep de sa Talaia, Santa Eul‡ria des Riu, Sant Antoni de Portmany, Sant Joan de Labritja and Eivissa- Ibiza, all have their own specific charm which reflect their own peculiarities. IBIZA’s beautiful Mediterranean beaches, towering cliffs, dense pine forests and mesmerizing sunsets are world famous. Well-known are the beautiful beaches in the islands capital surroundings, where the rich and famous and the world’s celebrities hang out. Many hidden coves around the islands coastline just wait for you to enjoy its crystal clear waters and fine white sandy beaches. THE SPIRIT Once upon a time, Ibiza was a spiritual and magical place. The Carthaginians first came here in 654 BC and much of the island’s magic comes from its sense of age and mythical history. The is- land has a rich spiritual heritage from its hippie visitors in the 1950s and 1960s. As a result, Ibiza is notorious for its trance parties and chill out sunsets, its laid-back attitude and hippie markets. Every sunset, people gathered at a little beach-side bar, called chringuitos, to be hypnotized by unique sunsets. Ibiza still has a ìstrange attractionî to people, who want to change their life. As a matter of fact people call it ìMagic islandî and speak about the ìSpirit of Ibizaî. Ibiza became – the spiritual home of house music, also sometimes described as Ibiza-style, Ibiza-house. C A S A N I L A Y A C A S A N I L A Y A Casa Nilaya is a beautiful villa located in the exclusive area of Cala Jondal and Es Cubells – close to the famous beach Cala Jondal and Blue Marlin Beach Club. The location of the house is very central - and yet you have absolute privacy. It is placed in the middle of a natural reserve and you don’t see any close neighbours or buildings from the house - only nature. Abstract: The rocky island of Es Vedrà, off the south-western tip of Ibiza, in Spain’s Balearic Islands, features prominently in tourism materials and in related social media postings. Its scenic aspects have prompted a physical orientation of shoreline buildings around its vista and it has also been the subject of accounts detailing its allegedly mysterious attributes. The latter derive, in part, from regional histories and folklore but more fundamentally relate to recent New Age/counter-cultural perceptions of the various “energies” that have been perceived to flow around parts of Ibiza and the enfolding of Es Vedrà, in particular, within a set of generic associations of mystical spatiality. Following a discussion of the latter, this article identifies the development of the area around Es Vedrà and the rocky island’s representation as a specially “charged” location. Drawing on these aspects, the article identifies the manner in which the rarely visited island is, simultaneously, highly visible and overlaid by cultural associations that effectively “cloud” its materiality.
