Overview: ClassPass is a monthly membership that grants members access to thousands of different class at studios and gyms in 39 cities worldwide. Memberships range depending on city and the number of classes preferred to take. ClassPass partners with over 8,500 fitness studios worldwide and offers options in boxing, martial arts, yoga, barre, pilates, spinning, HIIT training and much more.

History: Founder of ClassPass, Payal Kadakia, found a way to channel her passion for dance into her work. As a graduate of MIT, Kadakia and her partner Mary Briggins began working on a startup called Classtivity which participated in a accelerator program TechStars. After participating, her original model transformed greatly. Classtivity went from a $49 monthly promotion to a $99 different pricing structure. Classtivity changed the name to ClassPass where they pitched a monthly gym-like membership for people who want a diverse exercise experience. By partnering with hundreds of studios, ClassPass offers its customers special prices at a variety of studios. Since its launch, ClassPass has had 30 million reservations made, partnered with 8,500 studios and branched to 39 cities. With a total of $84 million in seed money raised, ClassPass continues to move forward and expand.

Founder & Management Team: Founder: Payal Kadakia Payal has been a dancer her entire life. In 2011, Payal’s passion for dance fueled her to start ClassPass. Before founding ClassPass, Payal graduated from MIT, worked as a consultant at Bain & Company and worked in the Strategy and Business Development department at .

CEO: Fritz Lanman Fritz recently transitioned into the position of CEO at ClassPass. Previously within the company, Fritz had been involved in the Seed and Series A financing. Fritz works as an angel investor along with his involvement at ClassPass and he has cofounded Doppler Labs and Verst.

CPO & CTO: Sam Hall Sam leads the engineering, product and design teams at ClassPass. Throughout his entire career he has been involved in this type of work. Before working at ClassPass, Sam acted as the Vice President of Consumable Customer Experience at and prior to that he was the Vice President of Mobile at Amazon. CMO: Joanna Lord Joanna is responsible for customer growth, community development, lifecycle marketing and brand at ClassPass. Before working at ClassPass, Joanna gained experience as the VP of Marketing at Porch and Chief Marketing Officer of BigDoor. Additionally, Joanna works as a contributing officer at Entrepreneur.com and MarketingLand.com. On top of these many accomplishments, Joanna has also been named Seattle’s 40 Under 40.

CFO: Tom Aveston At ClassPass, Tom leads the team in financial planning and analysis, accounting, legal and HR functions. Before beginning his career, Tom attended University of Oxford and graduated with a degree in Economics and History. Prior to working at ClassPass, Tom spent many years in Asia establishing the Expedia business and also worked at .

VP of Pricing & Inventory: Zach Apter Zach acts as the VP of Pricing and Inventory at ClassPass. Before working here, Zach worked at prestigious companies like and Microsoft. His experience over the past 15 years has allowed him to excel at consumer marketing. He graduated from Stanford University with a degree in Economics.

VP of Operations & Partnerships: Michael Wolf After graduating from Columbia University with a B.A. and from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania with an MBA and honors, Michael succeeded in multiple positions. Michael worked previously at Visible World, Obama for America and Bain & Company. On top of working for all these companies, Michael founded Blazer Ventures, an angel investment fund. He now is the VP Operations and Partnerships at ClassPass and is responsible for overseeing ClassPass’s 8,500 partner studios.

Head of People: Susan Loh Susan is the Head of People at ClassPass. Along with working at ClassPass, Susan has worked at Google, Yelp and Foursquare in HR and recruiting. Most recently Susan decided to join Brighton Angel Partners as an advisor to assist startups in early stages of growth.
