Botsiou was born in Athens in 1968. She graduated with honors from the Department of History & Archaeology of the Philosophical School at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and she holds a PhD degree from the University of Tübingen in Germany (1998, magna cum laude). Ι. TEACHING For ten years she taught at the Department of Political Science and Public Administration of the University of Athens (1998-2008), first as an Adjunct Lecturer (1998-2003), then as Lecturer in Modern European and Greek History (2003-2008). Between 1998 and 2003 she was teaching the undergraduate courses “Defense Policy and Strategy”, “Greek Foreign Policy” and “Modern Diplomatic Practice”, as well as the postgraduate courses “Southeast Europe in International Relations”, “Comparative Diplomatic Practice”. Between 2003 and 2008 she was teaching the undergraduate courses “Modern Greek History”, “Contemporary Greek History”, “World and European History I”, “World and European History II” as well as the postgraduate courses “Special Topics of European History” and “European Integration and Greece”. For nine years (2000-2008) she was instructor and coordinator of the section “Southeast European History and Culture, 19th-20th centuries” of the English-speaking “MA in Southeast European Studies” of the University of Athens and she was also a member of the MA Coordinating Committee (2004-2008).
