2019 Spring Newsletter Sierra Seasons Spring 2019 www.qmresorts.com A note from the CEO To Our Valued Owners, This issue of Sierra Seasons is all about the upcoming entertainment in Northern Nevada in 2019. I remember the good ol’ days of Reno and Tahoe where the area would attract top name headliners all year long! The streets of Reno used to be packed with casinos and gamblers until the wee hours of the night. It is true that the Reno area is going through a renaissance period of redevelopment commonly referred to by locals as our “Renossance” period. Much has changed including many new opportunities for dining and recreation and Reno is becoming a “Foodie” heaven so bring your appetite and try some new restaurants on your next adventure! Reno is also become a haven for craft breweries and distilleries and it seems there is another one opening up every time you turn around! Check out the Verdi Local Distillery if you are looking for a nice spot to stop off the beaten path and sample some unique whiskies. If you are looking for something in town pop into the Revision Brewery tasting room in Sparks to sample some great local brews! Big things are happening in our area and I wanted to bring all of our owners into the know on the great things on the horizon. If you don’t know by now the Bourbon Street Casino a.k.a. the Silver Club (or if you’ve really been around a long time Karl’s) has been demolished and a large dirt lot now sits in its place. Marnell Gaming, the new owner of the Nugget casino in Sparks, is beginning construction of an 8,500 seat outdoor amphitheater! The amphitheater is slated for an opening date on June 15th just in time for the Toby Keith concert occurring on the same day! Grab your tickets now on the Nugget website and book your stay in one of your newly renovated suites at the Thunderbird Resort! There are some other headliners on their way to the stage including Hank Williams Jr., LeAnn Rimes, and Lady Antebellum so put those cowboy boots on and come check them out! This is just another great addition that will enhance all of the fantastic events that Reno/Sparks has to offer including the Best in the West Nugget Rib Cookoff, Hot August Nights, Street Vibrations and more! We have also included some other great events happening at the Harvey’s amphitheater in South Lake Tahoe, the Silver Legacy in Reno, and more! Book your reservations now as we are forecasting a very busy spring and summer season! We look forward to hosting you on your next trip! Happy Traveling! Larry Roberts, CEO QM Resorts PAGE 01 www.qmresorts.com Management’s Memo Spring is springing, the birds are chirping, and the Crocus flowers are blooming again here at Thunderbird Resort! We are getting ready, once again, for a very busy warm weather season! Every Spring I get motivated to come up with new and creative ideas for activities that will get our owners and guests enthused about their stay at “Our Home Away From Home”! We will be starting a new activity in addition to the other fun activities that we offer. Join us in our “Conversation Café” in the Thunderbird lounge on Monday mornings to learn more about local activities offered throughout the Reno/Tahoe area as well as here at Thunderbird Resort. We will offer coffee, tea, and pastries along with a warm Monday morning smile! Be sure to check the activities calendar when you arrive. Don’t forget our Sunday Family BBQ’s that will begin on Memorial Day weekend…always a great event!! We always celebrate the 4th of July with a special gathering in the courtyard at Thunderbird Resort before you head downtown for the fireworks on Victorian Avenue!! Also, I need to mention our Rock N’ Roll Show N’ Shine party featuring a local classic rock band that will get you pumped for all of the Hot August Night festivities!! We look forward to seeing you all soon! Peggy Tavener Activities Director QM Resorts Save the date! Here are just a few upcoming events DATES EVENTS to keep in mind.
