Palaeonlologia Polonica, 50, 3—94, 1990. Taxonomic and ecological analysis of the ammonite assemblages, as well as their general paleogeographical setting, indicate that the Albian deposits in the Polish part of the Central European Basin accumulated under shallow or extremely shallow marine conditions, while those of the High-Tatra Swell were deposited in an open sea environment. The Boreal character of the ammonite faunas in the epicontinental area of Poland and the Tethyan character of those in the Tatra Mountains are evident in the composition of the analyzed assemblages. -

El registro de este genero en capas supuestamente de edad aptiana se basa en datos sin apoyo estratigraf ico o en el listado conjunto de faunas procedentes de diferentes localidades. ABSTRACT— Where associated with other ammonites Neodeshayesites, a group of Northern South American species, forms part of a Lower Albian or basal Middle Albian fauna. The supposed record of the genus from Aptian strata is based on inconclusive stratigraphical data or falacious listing of faunas from diff erent localities. The occurrence of rich Albian ammonite faunas in what is now northern Pakistan has been known for more than 80 years, but there has been no comprehensive account of the assemblages present. A total of 36 taxa are described below. The middle part of the Lumshiwal Formation yields Upper Aptian ammonites south of the Samana Range. Elsewhere, it yields Douvilleiceras leightonense Casey, 1962, of the lower Lower Albian Leymeriella reg- ularis Zone and the Sonneratia perinflata and S. kitchini Subzones of the Sonneratia chalensis Zone of the north- west European sequence. The top one to two metres of the Lumshiwal yields an abundant fauna of rolled and phos- phatised ammonites that includes elements from much of the Albian. Of these, Prolyelliceras gevreyi (Jacob, 1907) first appears in the lower Lower Albian Leymeriella tardefurcata Zone. The commonest ammonite is Douville- iceras mammillatum (Schlotheim, 1813) sensu lato, which ranges from the perinflata Subzone of the chalensis Zone to the Otohoplites bulliensis Subzone of the O. -
Stable Carbon-Isotope Chemostratigraphy Versus Ammonite Biostratigraphy: Data from Around the Barremian/Aptian Boundary (Lower Cretaceous)
STRATA, 2020, série 2e, vol. 56: 1-31 Stable carbon-isotope chemostratigraphy versus ammonite biostratigraphy: data from around the Barremian/Aptian boundary (Lower Cretaceous) Camille Frau1 Abstract. The complex and ornate carbon-isotope excursion of the lower Aptian Oceanic Anoxic Event (OAE) 1a is used as a potent means of worldwide marine correlations that has the potential to provide an independent control based on controversial ammonite dating. Re-examination of the best-documented expanded sections of the Tethyan, Boreal, and Pacific realms highlight the inconsistent positioning of ammonite key markers – mainly Deshayesitidae and Douvilleiceratidae – relative to the OAE 1a carbon- isotope excursion. This is not only due to taxonomic issues and substantial provincialism but also the weaknesses in the stratigraphic record caused by the sedimentary context of that oceanic anoxic event. Much detailed study and refinement of existing data are needed to reduce volatility in ammonite zonal boundaries from around the Barremian/Aptian boundary. Keywords. Accepted 30 March 201 0 A new heteromorphammonite genus, Tarrantites, is proposed for Hamites adkinsi Scott, 1928. The description of the new genus is based mainly on a near<omplete specimen from the Middle Albian part of the G:1odland Limestone of Tarrant County, Texas, the holotype, and on an abraded mould on a pebble from the bed of a stream in Hill County, Texas. In addition, we record the presence of the genus in the Albian of Pakistan. Tarrantites shows a remarkable resemblance to the labeceratine genera Labeceras Spath, 1925 and Myloeeras Spath, 1925: in coiling and size to the former, and in ornamentation to the latter, but is excluded from the subfamily Labeceratinae Spath, 1925, because it has a distinct bifid adventive (A) lobe. This latterfeature, and the ornamentation, rather suggest affinities of Tarrantites with the family Anisoceratidae Hyatt, 1900. Upper Cenomanian–Lower Turonian Ammonoids from the Saxonian Cretaceous (Lower Elbtal Group, Saxony, Germany)
Upper CenomanianLower Turonian ammonoids from the Saxonian Cretaceous (lower Elbtal Group, Saxony, Germany) MARKUS WILMSEN & EMAD NAGM The Upper Cenomanian to Lower Turonian ammonoid fauna of the Saxonian Cretaceous (Elbtal Group, Saxony, Ger- many) has been revised based on the study of 270 specimens hosted in the Museum für Mineralogie und Geologie (MMG) of the Senckenberg Naturhistorische Sammlungen Dresden. In total, 12 species have been identified and, based on this revision, a number of ammonoids are now reported and/or illustrated for the first time from the Elbtal Group of Saxony: Euomphaloceras septemseriatum, Neocardioceras juddii barroisi, Watinoceras coloradoense, Spathites (Jeanrogericeras) reveliereanus, Sciponoceras gracile and Scaphites equalis. The study demonstrated the presence of all Upper Cenomanian and Lower Turonian standard ammonite biozones in the lithostratigraphic succession of the lower Elbtal Group: the lower Upper Cenomanian Calycoceras naviculare Zone (represented by the Oberhäslich For- mation), the mid- and upper Upper Cenomanian Metoicoceras geslinianum and Neocardioceras juddii zones (repre- sented by the Dölzschen Formation), and the Lower Turonian Watinoceras coloradoense and Mammites nodosoides zones (represented by the Brießnitz Formation).
