He earned a B.S. in accounting from Virginia Tech, an M.S. in sport manage- ment from West Virginia University, and a Ph.D. in sport management from Ohio State University. He is an active researcher in the areas of sport consumer behav- ior and intercollegiate athletics and has published more than 60 articles in various refereed journals, several book chapters, and one book.

Winthrop Basketball ver the past 15 years the Winthrop men’s basketball program has been Osynonymous with winning championships and claiming victories over some of the nation’s elite schools. Over that period, the Eagles have nine Big South Conference championships, captured the Marquette Pepsi Blue and Gold Classic, the oldest continuing tournament in the country, along with nine NCAA tournament appearances, highlighted by the 2007 first-round victory over Notre Dame. No other Big South Conference school and few programs across the country can boast of the same success that Winthrop basketball has enjoyed since 1999.
