NCBWA Information The NCBWA National CollegiAte Baseball Writers Association Founded in 1962, the NCBWA is dedicated to the advancement of college baseball. Membership is open to writers, broadcasters and publicists of the sport. Members receive a directory, newsletter updates and official votes in the Dick Howser Trophy, Regional Players of the Year and Pro-Line Athletic NCBWA All-America voting. The NCBWA also sponsors preseason All-American awards, a Freshman All-American Team, the Stopper of the Year Award, publication and writing contests. Additionally, the organization maintains a website at www.ncbwa. com. The Wilbur Snypp Award There have been 35 recipients of the award, which is presented annually in memory of longtime Ohio State Sports Information Director and NCBWA founder, the late Wilbur (Bill) Snypp. Snypp was a noted contributor to the writers’ organization, which was initiated in 1962, as well as an officer in the group.

The NCBWA/Wilbur Snypp Award yearly honors a professional for his/her contributions to the sport of collegiate baseball. Voting is done by a panel of previous winners, who include past NCAA directors, College Sports Information Directors of America Hall of Fame members, decorated media members and many others.
