Newsletter – Friday 23rd October 2020 Dear Parents & Carers We are finally at the end of our first half term of full reopening during a pandemic. The procedures we put in place have been very successful and seem to be working well. We are in the process of reviewing everything at the moment. With the winter approaching and number of cases rising, the majority of our procedures will remain in place. One of the changes we were keen to make was to be able to provide children with the option of a hot meal at lunchtime. We have spoken with Innovate (our lunchtime provider) about this possibility and we have agreed to trial hot jacket potatoes with a choice of fillings after half term. The cold packed lunches will also remain an option. Don’t forget to look out for our regular item in the newsletter ‘Health Eating Lunch Ideas’ if you prefer to provide you own lunch for your child. Thank you for all your generous donations for Mufti day today. The money is in ‘isolation’ and will be counted after half term. May I remind you to let us know if you are planning a trip abroad with your child this half term and that you/your child will need to self-isolate on your return for 14 days if the place you visit is not on the ‘Travel Corridor List’. Our email - [email protected] - for reporting COVID-19 Tests results will be monitored over half term. We ask that you keep us up to date through this email with the following information: • If your child or a member of the household develops symptoms (Please tell us who has developed symptoms and the date of onset of their symptoms) • If your child is self-isolating because they have been in contact with someone that has tested positive (Please tell us the date they were asked to self-isolate) • If you receive results of COVID-19 Tests We attach the guidance for ‘households with possible coronavirus infection’. I can confirm that there are still no pupils or staff who have tested positive for coronavirus at Stone School. Wishing you a very safe and relaxing break. Take care. Please see the attached Powerpoint.. House Captains This week house captain elections have taken place. This year the candidates in class 6 were all filmed for their speeches to allow the rest of the school to watch them. All the candidates made fantastic speeches and we know it would have been a hard decision for the children voting to make. We have collated the results from all the classes who voted. The results are as follows: Green house captains - Rachel P and George D Yellow house captains - Toby M and Lily P Red house captains- Rhys C and Isabella P Blue house captains - Oliver S and Sammie S CLASS R The big news in Class R this week was our end of term Wow events. The children took part in a talent show called: “Class R's Got Talent” and they also participated in an autumn hunt and played with our parachute CLASS 3 Year 3 have finished their topic on the Iron Man by making their own robots! CLASS 5 Our Wow Day Our WOW day was so much fun. We had to pretend that we were survivors, just like in our book “The Explorers” by Katherine Rundell. The first thing we had to do is imagine that we had crash landed in a rainforest and we had to figure out where we were. We also had to collect leaves and figure out what they were. Our wow day was on a Thursday so we had to go swimming, but for swimming we had to wear our PJ’s over our swim wear. The aim of the swimming lesson was to teach us how to survive with our PJ’s on.
