Director, Wildlife Health Program Wildlife Conservation Society Director, Wildlife Health Program Wildlife Conservation Society The Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), a nonprofit organization headquartered at the Bronx Zoo in New York City, saves wildlife and wild places worldwide through science, conservation action, education and inspiring people to value nature. WCS addresses global conservation challenges in over 50 countries in Africa, Asia, the Americas, and the world’s oceans and manages the Bronx Zoo, Central Park Zoo, Queens Zoo, Prospect Park Zoo, and the New York Aquarium. WCS is recruiting a wildlife health professional for the position of Director, Wildlife Health Program (WHP). The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and growing a global portfolio of wildlife health, research, and conservation initiatives. These include zoonotic disease surveillance in Asia and Latin America; a Great Apes Health Program in Central Africa; Big Cats Health Initiative; and bat White Nose Syndrome investigations in North America. The WHP is the international half of WCS’s overall Health Program, and coordinates with the zoo- based Zoological Health Program. Additional activities include identification and achievement of program funding opportunities in both the philanthropic and competitive grant arenas. The position will ideally be based at WCS’s headquarters in New York City, but significant national and international travel is a requirement of the position. This full-time position provides competitive salary and benefits commensurate with experience. The successful candidate should have demonstrated leadership capacity on issues of wildlife health and conservation; excellent interpersonal and management skills necessary to oversee diverse, global staff; effective verbal and spoken English communication abilities; experience with international wildlife health issues, travel, and conservation projects; a proven fund raising track record; and be a graduate of a veterinary school or have an advanced degree in an animal health, conservation, or related health focused area.
