01737 300805 [email protected] Sporades Flotilla www.sunscapeyachting.co.uk The Sporades is a chain of beautiful unspoilt islands lying off the eastern coast Our Sporades Route sails east from Loutraki and explores outlying islands of mainland Greece. From the Yacht base at Loutraki on the idyllic holiday such as Alonissos, with its scenic harbours at Patitiri and Steni Vala. We head island of Skopelos, the Pelion Route ventures west into the sheltered Gulf for the uninhabited islands of Peristeri, Xero or, weather permitting, Pelagos of Volos, in the shadow of the Pelion peninsula with its lush fertile hills, safe – also known as Kyra Panaghia, with its single resident and herds of wild anchorages and timeless fishing villages. We visit sleepy Paleo Trikeri and goats. Before returning to Loutraki, we visit the charming Islands capital of historic Pegadi, from where Achilles set to sail for Troy. Our route back takes Skopelos and some of the beautiful sheltered bays, each with fine beaches us to Koukounaries, famed for one of the Mediterranean’s best beaches. and traditional tavernas. From Athens and Thessaloniki train, bus or taxi to Volos. From Skiathos, ferry or hydrofoil to Volos. Day 1 – Saturday: Embark Volos in the afternoon. Provision the yacht. Depart for a sail through the gulf of Volos. Overnight at the small island of Paleio Trikeri or Kotes bay. Dine at one of the popular tavernas at either location. (16 nm / 2+ hrs) Paleio Trikeri (island) Day 2 – Sunday: Sail to Panormos bay on Skopelos stopping for a swim and lunch on board at the small islet of Tsougria. If it’s going to stay calm all night, drop anchor in an idyllic lagoon like bay surrounded by pine trees and spend the evening under the stars. A line to shore is a good idea. Cook a meal on board or take the dinghy to shore to eat at one of the popular tavernas there. (30 nm / 4 hrs) Panormos bay on Skopelos Alternatively, visit the small fishing village port of Neo Klima nearby and eat at one of the local tavernas. Day 3 – Monday: Sail along the southern coast of Skopelos island and stop for a swim at Staphylos bay or a lunch of lobster spaghetti at Agnondas village.

1 The following information has been supplied by the Greek Aliens Bureau: It is obligatory for all EU nationals to apply for a “Registration Certificate” (Veveosi Engrafis - Βεβαίωση Εγγραφής) after they have spent 3 months in Greece (Directive 2004/38/EC).This requirement also applies to UK nationals during the transition period. This certificate is open- dated. You only need to renew it if your circumstances change e.g. if you had registered as unemployed and you have now found employment. Below we outline some of the required documents for the most common cases. Please refer to the local Police Authorities for information on the regulations for freelancers, domestic employment and students. You should submit your application and required documents at your local Aliens Police (Tmima Allodapon – Τμήμα Αλλοδαπών, for addresses, contact telephone and opening hours see end); if you live outside Athens go to the local police station closest to your residence. In all cases, original documents and photocopies are required. You should approach the Greek Authorities for detailed information on the documents required or further clarification. Lichadonisia is one of the few volcanic island groups of Greece, consisting mainly of lava flows. Herein, we present for the first time the land snail fauna of the islets and we compare their species richness with islands of similar size across the Aegean Sea. Results The Aegean was divided into six biogeographical modules; the net- work was significantly modular. None of the modules displayed all four possi- ble biogeographical roles (connectors, module hubs, network hubs, peripherals). Six new biogeographical regions in the Aegean were identified. Main conclusions The borders of the six biogeographical regions in the Aegean correspond well to the region’s palaeogeographical evolution from the middle Miocene to the end of the Pleistocene.
