LATTES GRINZANE AWARD 2020 Giorgio Fontana with Prima di Noi (Sellerio), Daniel Kehlmann (Germany) with Il re, il cuoco e il buffone (translation by Monica Pesetti; Feltrinelli), Eshkol Nevo (Israel) with L’ultima intervista (translation by Raffaella Scardi; Neri Pozza), Valeria Parrella with Almarina (Einaudi) and Elif Shafak (Turkey) con I miei ultimi 10 minuti e 38 secondi in questo strano mondo (translated by Daniele A. Gewurz and Isabella Zani; Rizzoli) are the finalists of the Lattes Grinzane Award 2020, an internationally recognized event now in its tenth edition, which brings together Italian and foreign authors and is dedicated to the best fiction books published last year. The Lattes Grinzane Special Prize, which has always been dedicated to an international author or author who over time has received acclaim form both critics and the public in 2020, is awarded to the Civil Protection agency. The sum of 10,000 euros, usually destined for an international writer (such as Haruki Murakami in 2019, Ian McEwan in 2017, Amos Oz in 2016, Javier Marías in 2015), will be donated to the institution involved in the Covid health emergency -19.
The awards ceremony will be held on Saturday October 10th at the Teatro Sociale in Alba at 4.30 pm, subject to availability, and in live streaming, in full compliance with the safety regulations for the Covid-19 emergency.

“OUTSIDE – INSIDE”. INSIDE THE NATURE OF ROERO EXHIBITION OF IVANO PIVA CURATED BY CARLA TESTORE One of the landmarks of the World Heritage area, the Castle of Monticello is located in the heart of Roero and will host Ivano Piva's "Outside - Inside" project from October 17th to December 8th. The protagonists are the products of Roero that are described through macro-enlargements. Truffles, strawberries, hazelnuts, grapes, asparagus, cherries have been dissected up to the "heart", creating images of great emotional impact. The exhibition, curated by Carla Testore, presents works in which the typical products of the Roero are enlarged with meticulous attention to detail to convey new visions and sensations.

THIS DOESN'T BELONG TO ME On the occasion of the eighth year of collaboration with ENSBA Lyon - École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux Artes, Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo presents "This Doesn't Belong to Me", the first solo exhibition in Italy by Tarek Lakhrissi (1992, Châtellerault, FR) curated by Bernardo Follini. Lakhrissi is an artist, poet and writer who lives and works in Paris: in his works he investigates and challenges the structures of language by reflecting around the notion of identity. "This Doesn’t Belong to Me" explores the concept of self-defense, understood as a practice of resistance that different subordinate social groups have developed for survival, applied to the figure of the salamander. On display the amphibian becomes a symbol of a political, but also sexual counterpower, which in the exercise of autotomy - the self-amputation of non-vital parts of the body practiced by some animals as a diversion against their predators - implements a defensive tactic able to connect urban guerrilla strategies to practices pertaining to the sphere of the erotic.

WAVES BETWEEN US The fourteenth edition of the Young Curators Residency Program has taken as its starting point the dual interpretation of the word “siren”, intended both as a mythological figure of the sea and as an emergency or alarm sound. Inside Waves Between Us, the figure of the mermaid slips between these meanings, intertwining with the works of the artists on display (Almare, Bea Bonafini, Benni Bosetto, Binta Diaw, Isola Della Femmine, Marco Giordano, Raffaela Naldi Rossano, Nuvola Ravera, Real Madrid, Elisa Strinna) to explore sound as a mode of transmission, salt water as a web of connectivity, and the underworld territories of caves as ecosystems of new possible compositions. The exhibition curated by Alison Karasyk, Camille Regli, Katie Simpson, crosses through Palazzo Re Rebaudengo, channeling past and future narratives different from the dominant ones into its rooms, to rethink contemporary reality and explore new ways of being together. FERRERO FOUNDATION The encounters of the Ferrero Foundation resume in autumn: medical conferences (starting from October 15th, at the headquarters of the Ferrero Foundation), educational conferences, cultural events (the inauguration of a music festival with protagonist Uto Ughi). Some events will take place at the Foundation, others in other locations in Alba such as the Teatro Sociale and the exhibition space of the Banca d’Alba (October 30th will inaugurate the photographic exhibition by Ivo Saglietti "Under the tent of Abraham"). DAWN OF WINE On Saturday September 19th , the vineyards of the Umberto I Wine School in Alba will host "The Dawn of Wine", an event that will involve the producers of the "Cantine di Alba" Association and the Administration of the Municipality of Alba.
The event began in 2019, with the aim of celebrating the grape harvest - in an area recognized as a UNESCO heritage precisely for the wine-growing landscapes of Langhe Roero and Monferrato – and will be an opportunity to present the experience of the harvest for tourists, an interesting opportunity to experience our hills in a new way.

On two Sundays in September the 20th & 27th , the festive atmosphere of the harvest descends from the hills to Alba. The producers of the Langa and Roero area will present the most representative wine expressions, promoting the various territorial realities with tastings of the products.
The Wine Festival, promoted by Go Wine - and now in its 22nd edition - will take place as usual in via Cavour and in Piazza del Duomo. The historic center of Alba will welcome wine enthusiasts and wine tourists in an ideal "wine route", in full compliance with all the precautions provided by the anti-contagion regulations from Covid-19 in place.

XXI WORLD AUCTION OF THE WHITE TRUFFLE D’ALBA® On Sunday November 8th , the Castle of Grinzane Cavour hosts the 21st edition of the World Auction of the Alba White Truffle®, the most important and prestigious auction linked to the world of the Alba White Truffle, organized by the Cavour Piedmont Regional Enoteca, with the generous support from the Piedmont Region, the Enit-Italian National Tourism Agency, the International Alba White Truffle Fair Authority, the Langhe Monferrato Roero Tourism Authority and the Barolo Barbaresco Alba Langhe and Dogliani Protection Consortium.
The best specimens of Alba White Truffle are bid on at the Auction by the Unesco site of the Castle of Grinzane Cavour, with direct connections with the most famous restaurants in the world, allowing the highly prized Tuber magnatum Pico to be celebrated and to reach the most noble tables of the world. Once the usual attention to solidarity has been reiterated, the proceeds from the World Alba White Truffle Auction are in fact donated to charity.

PUBLIC PRESENTATION OF GRAPHIC WORKS FREDDA LASTRA EVOCATIVA The public presentation of Walter Accigliaro's work "Fredda lastra evocativa" will be held, with the patronage of the San Giuseppe Cultural Center and the Angelo Galeasso Art Gallery in Alba. A lithographic reproduction, printed this year in 70 hand-numbered copies and signed by the author, it was specially created by the Comunecazione di Bra typography. The work is part of the serial production with intaglio techniques that the artist from Alba creates, with various specific procedures, and will be accompanied by textual passages on the author of Francesco Poli, Maria Teresa Barolo and Enrico Perotto. The presentation introduced by Roberto Cerrato and Adalberto Galeasso will be integrated by the projection of the video “Walter Accigliaro. Sguardo bifronte”. ".

ECOMARATHON OF BARBARESCO AND THE ALBA WHITE TRUFFLE The Alba and Langhe Marathon returns to gather runners who combine the passion of running with that for great wines and the White Truffle of Alba for the 11th edition. Also this year the race course will wind through the Tanaro river park, covering the paths of Fenoglio, the hills of Barbaresco, the ancient village of Neive and the Rocche dei Sette Fratelli di Treiso.

PRESENTATION OF THE GRINZANE CAVOUR VOLUMES “THE EVOLUTION OF A TERRITORY OF LANGA” On Saturday October 17th, the conference room of the Castle of Grinzane Cavour will host the presentation of the Grinzane Cavour volumes, by Luigi Cabutto, with photographs by Enzo Massa. The evolution of a Langa area between history, art, customs, entrepreneurship and commerce. The Municipality of Grinzane Cavour with the Gallo Grinzane, its Castle, its rural settlements, the design of its cultivations, the industries that have drawn the expansion of the village are narrated as an excellent example of the transformation of a territory, in a landscape of the history, culture and entrepreneurship of Alba in the twentieth century. In fact, the Municipality of Grinzane today ranks as a classic example of the progressive development that has made the entire Langa area of great wines famous and unique in its products and tourism.

ROERO WINE WEEK The week dedicated to Roero DOCG - coordinated by the Roero Protection Consortium, which involves restaurateurs and wine bars from all over Italy - will involve fifty-seven producers of Roero DOCG Bianco and Rosso. The Roero Wine Week is an opportunity, through the tasting of Roero DOCG by the glass, to look outside and get to know the rich and varied offer of the territory, perfectly appreciable if accompanied by a plate graced by the White Truffle of Alba. REGIONAL SHOW OF THE VEZZA WHITE TRUFFLE AND VEZZA D’ALBA AND ROERO WINES From 14th to 22nd November Vezza d’Alba returns to host the Regional Fair of the White Truffle of Vezza d’Alba and of the Wines of Vezza d’Alba and Roero. The show will be anticipated by a series of preview encounters scheduled in October. During the weekends of the Fair, Vezza d’Alba will be the ideal place to stroll through the truffle grounds with tabui, taste the Roero wine appellations, visit the White Truffle Market of Alba and typical products, listen to concerts and attend concerts. In its 40th edition, the Fair reaffirms its desire to promote knowledge of the habitat of the White Truffle of Alba, increasing awareness of the importance of protecting the delicate ecological balance that allows its birth and spontaneous growth.

THE LAST NIGHT OF THE TRUFFLE September 21st - January 31st. Respectively the opening and closing dates of the Tuber magnatum Pico harvesting calendar. Just as the Tuber primae noctis event celebrates the start of the Alba White Truffle harvest season, so the Last Night of the Truffle wants to be an opportunity to say goodbye to the Alba White Truffle until the following year. For the occasion, the last hunt of the season will be organized among the prized truffle fields of the Rocche del Roero.
