The event benefitted the rebuilding of the Soseh Kindergarten in Stephanakert, Artsakh. Committee Chairs - Elyse Kaprielian, Karen Pilla and Pauline Getzoyan In an intimate setting, circa 1899, the close to 70 guests were welcomed with warm smiles from the Ungerouhi’s, bubbly, and a variety of hors d’oeuvres of traditional New England faire. After engaging in lively conversation, fine wine and a savory meal, attendees were treated to beautiful live music by the Armenian Chamber Ensemble. Musician’s Leon Janikian, Clarinet, Mal Barsamian, Oud, Dalita Getzoyan, Flute, David Gevorkian, Duduk, Charles Kalajian, Percussion and Ken Kalajian, Guitar, serenaded the crowd with chosen selections from Gomidas, Sayat Nova, and Hovanissian. The special evening concluded with Ungerouhi Pauline Getzoyan, Armenian Relief Society Central Executive member, sharing a brief video documenting the history of the Soseh Kindergarten and the future plans for the project being spearheaded by the Armenian Relief Society. The first Soseh Kindergarten opened its doors in 1998 to the children of the soldiers fighting in the Artsakh War. The original building dating back to 1953, is no longer safe for use. The new 6,000 square foot structure, currently under construction, will contain 8 large classrooms, 2 main halls, a playground and a bomb shelter. The project is expected to be completed sometime in 2017. The Armenian Relief Society Ani Chapter extends its sincere gratitude to the members of the Providence Armenian Community who chose to support this project and assisted us in meeting our goal of sponsoring a root on the tree of recognition that will adorn the walls of the school. Vartanantz Church on June 25, 2016 May God Bless You and May He keep you in His care always Church Summer Schedule is now in effect. Soorp Badarak begins at 9:30 am GOSPEL Matthew 17:1-13 After six days, Jesus took with him Peter, James and John, the brother of James, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. There he was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and his clothes became white as the light. Just then there appeared before them Moses and Elijah, talking with Jesus. Peter said to Jesus, “Lord. It is good for us to be here. If you wish, I will put up three shelters – one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.” While he was still speaking, a bright cloud enveloped them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!” When the disciples heard this, they fell face down to the ground, terrified. But Jesus came and touched them. “Get up,” he said. “Don’t be afraid.” When they looked up, they saw no one except Jesus. As they were coming down the mountain, Jesus instructed them, “Don’t tell anyone what you have seen, until the Son of Man has been raised from the dead.” The disciples asked him, “Why then do the teachers of the law say that Elijah must come first?” Jesus replied, “To be sure, Elijah comes and will restore all things. But I tell you, Elijah has already come and they did not recognize him, but have done to him everything they wished. In the same way the Son of Man is going to suffer at their hands.” Then the disciples understood that he was talking to them about John the Baptist. (On Page 973 in your Bible) EPISTLE 1 John 1:1-7 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched – this we proclaim concerning the Word of life. The life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and has appeared to us. We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. We write this to make our joy complete. This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.
