One day at work, I was at the copier machine to duplicate a document. When I pushed the print button, there was a notification that the copier was out of paper. Just then, a co-worker came up to me with a big smile and a cheerful hello and asked how I was doing. I responded with a frustrated look on my face while saying that I would be better if the copier machine had paper in it. My co-workers cheerful face fell into a look of concern. Right then, I realized I had caused her smile to disappear just by how I responded. I was personally responsible for bringing her cheerful mood down over something as mundane as needing to replenish paper in a copier machine. And yes, I felt badly about it. Determined to fix my mistake, I joked around with her until her smile returned. Lesson of the day: Try to take notice of how people react to what you say. Sometimes how we choose to respond to a situation can make a big difference to someone else. Sincerely, Jaimee Hawkins It’s not what happens to Senior Citizen Coordinator you, but how you react to it that matters. - Epictetus A few words can leave an impression on someone else. Make your words count.
