Our Leaders in Service campaign will enable Alpha Phi Omega to engage more student volunteers on more college campuses and improve our services to current and alumni members. Accomplishing these goals requires financial resources beyond our membership fees and dues. Gifts received through the Leaders in Service campaign will help equip tomorrow’s leaders for a lifetime of selfless and productive service on their campuses, in their communities, across the nation, and throughout the world.

“Ninety years ago, our founder Frank Reed Horton dreamed of a worldwide organization that would help people in need. ANADA Our chartering of the first chapter in Canada now brings us one step closer to our founder’s vision.”

– Brother Fred Heismeyer, Past National President

SPRING 2016 TORCH & TREFOIL Q 9 Sunday, December 13, 2015, will beb added to the APO history books as thetth day that the Fraternity chartered iititst first chapter in Canada. After ddecades of hard work, dedication and thtthe service of many devoted alumni aand petitioning students, APO has tattaken one step closer to fulfilling Frank RReed Horton’s vision of a worldwide oorganization. Alpha Chapter of Canada bbrings 38 initiated brothers to the FFraternity, and it continues to grow wwith its 29 pledges.

APO has taken one step closer to fulfilling Frank Reed Horton’s vison of a worldwide organization.

The idea to expand to Canada wwas initially proposed to the Board iinn the early ’90s when Brother DDavid Emery was the International RRelations Director. For over 20 years, tthereh have been ongoing extension eefforts, and while the Fraternity had mmade significant progress at McGill UUniversity in Montréal in the mid- 22000s, the group never made it past ttheh petitioning phase. The International Relations/ CCanadian Extension Committee has sseene many ups and downs along the wway; the committee received leads from nnumerous interested students, but fofor years, each of the attempts to gain mmomentum on a Canadian campus fafailed to reach fruition.

“The chartering ceremony was incredible. Not only did we get to see months of hard work finally paying off, but we had a chance to meet with some of the top leaders in APO, including the National President and Executive Director. This was such an amazing opportunity for our chapter, and we had the chance to really see the impact Alpha Phi Omega has left on so many lives. I am so proud of my team for pulling it all together, and so excited to see what is next for us in our Alpha Phi Omega adventure.” — Nika Moeini, Chapter President
