He was appointed on 17 July 2018. Dato’ Marzuki Yahya is a founding member of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia SHAMSUL NIZAM SHAMSUDDIN (PBBM) which was established on 7 September 2016. He is a member of the Supreme Leadership Council of PPBM and the Penang Chief for PBBM. His active Advisor involvement in politics started when he was appointed as Treasurer for UMNO SHAHARUDDIN AZIZ Youth Bagan Division from 1998 to 2001 and later as UMNO Youth Exco Malaysia Editor – in - Chief for the term 2004-2008 while holding the post of UMNO Youth Chief for Bagan Division. We gathered to ‘lou sang’, a prosperity toss that signifies prosperity, wealth and happiness. MEETING WITH MALAYSIAN BUSINESS COMMUNITY IN BRITISH COLUMBIA On 3 March 2019, Consul General met with Malaysian business community in British Columbia at Banana Leaf Restaurant. The meeting was organised by the Malaysia Canada Business Council (MCBC) – British Columbia and attended by 20 Malaysian companies. Members took the opportunity to provide details of the current business climate especially the do's and don'ts of doing business in British Columbia. TOURISM MALAYSIA, VANCOUVER PARTICIPATED IN THE VANCOUVER OUTDOOR ADVENTURE SHOW 2019 Tourism Malaysia (TM) Vancouver participated in the Vancouver Outdoor Adventure Show 2019, the biggest event of its kind in British Columbia that featured more than 250 exhibitors with latest outdoor and adventure travel destinations, held at Vancouver Convention Centre on 2 - 3 March 2019. The event was a good opportunity for TM to showcase Malaysia’s outdoor and eco-tourism to the Canadian market. PRESENTATION ON MALAYSIA BY CONSULATE GENERAL OF MALAYSIA AT SIMON FRASER UNIVERSITY The Consulate General of Malaysia in Vancouver with full support of Tourism Malaysia Vancouver organised a presentation on Malaysia at Simon Fraser University (SFU), Vancouver on 7 March 2019. The event, which was attended by more than 20 participants, especially from British Columbia Council for International Education (BCCIE) and SFU lecturers and staff, aimed to provide some information on Malaysia before the delegation from British Columbia depart for Malaysia to attend the Asia- Pacific Association for International Education (APAIE) in Kuala Lumpur. 4 E-NEW SLETTER VANCOUVER 1/2019 January – June 2019 MALAYSIA SINGAPORE NIGHT AT UNIVERSITY OF BRITISH COLUMBIA On 17 March 2018, the Seri Malaysia Club and the Singapore Students’ Association of University of British Columbia (UBC) organised a Malaysia Singapore Night at the Nest, UBC. The event aimed to bring together Malaysians and Singaporeans in Vancouver under one roof to celebrate both unique cultures. The students had prepared popular delicacies such as rendang ayam, bihun goreng and ikan tiga rasa. The Consul General delivered a short speech thanking the students for their efforts in organising the MSN and indirectly promoting TOKEN OF APPRECIATION FROM TOURISM MALAYSIA Malaysian and Singaporean cultures to locals in Vancouver. VANCOUVER TO SILKWAY TRAVEL AND CRUISE, 9 MARCH 2019 In conjunction with the 40th Anniversary of Silkway Travel and Cruise, Consul General, on behalf of Tourism Malaysia Vancouver, presented a token of appreciation to Silkway for their support in promoting Malaysia on 9 March 2019 at Aberdeen Centre, Richmond, British Columbia. In addition, Consul General was invited to present a short speech at the ceremony. CONSUL GENERAL MEETING WITH SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT, GROUP HRM, PETRONAS On 12 March 2019, Consul General had a meeting with PETRONAS officials at the Consulate General’s Office in Vancouver. The PETRONAS delegation was led by YBhg. Dato’ Raiha Azni Abd Rahman, Senior Vice President, Group Human Resource Management.
