  • PH Coalition Not Affected by Infighting Within Component Parties - Dr Mahathir Mahathir BERNAMA 22/01/2019
PH coalition not affected by infighting within component parties - Dr Mahathir Mahathir BERNAMA 22/01/2019 VIENNA, Jan 22 (Bernama) -- Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said the coalition would not be affected by any infighting in certain parties and so far, the coalition has been functioning well as the government. "Within the parties themselves there maybe some fights for positions (and) so on but that has not affected the PH coalition. We have four parties and one not in the coalition but in the government (Warisan). "The four parties are equally strong and we have to reach (a) consensus whenever we have anything to decide... there might be differences but we can live with it and up to now we are functioning quite well in the government," he said during a Dialogue Session with Malaysians residing in Austria and the Slovak Republic here last night. He was responding to a question from the floor whether the coalition had infightings after being elected the government since May last year. PH comprises four parties – PKR, DAP, Pertubuhan Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) and Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah). Replying to another question, Dr Mahathir Mohamad said nuclear power would not be the source of energy for Malaysia until experts and science find a solution for treating nuclear waste and reverse the process of extracting the radiation so it would not affect people's health. The prime minister said the waste generated by nuclear power was dangerous and trying to get rid of it would be a problem. "Because up to now science has not managed to reverse the process, you can activate the material to function and have radiation ( for power but) no way to reverse it.

Speaker Datuk Mohamad Ariff Yusof made the statement after a debate on the motion to condemn the attacks tabled by Port Dickson MP Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. Mohamad Ariff called on all Muslim MPs to recite the Al-Fatihah and the non-Muslim MPs to observe a minute’s silence as a mark of respect for the dead. “The Malaysian Parliament stands together with the Government and Parliament of New Zealand in rejecting terrorism, hatred and violence in all forms,” he said. Muhyiddin: Choice of new Perak PPBM head led members to quit Free Malaysia Today June 1, 2017 By Predeep Nambiar He says only ‘tens of members’ quit instead of the reported 1,000, and that he knows who instigated them to leave. GEORGE TOWN: PPBM president Muhyiddin Yassin says the recent alleged exit of 1,000 members in Perak was the work of a handful of divisional leaders upset over the appointment of the state’s party chief. The former deputy prime minister also said claims that 1,000 members had left were likely made up as a much smaller number had actually quit. He said the handful of leaders were not happy with the state PPBM chairmanship, which was decided by the central party leadership. “Actually, this is likely due to a handful of people who were not happy with a decision made by the PPBM central leadership, not just because of me. “I know who’s behind this, who caused this. “Also, tell me where are the ‘1,000’ who left the party? “The truth is, only puluhan yang keluar (only some tens of members left the party). “The handful are just using the ‘thousands leaving’ as a rallying call,” he told reporters after breaking fast at the Ar-Raudah Mosque in Pulau Betong, Balik Pulau, today. News reports said 1,000 Perak PPBM members had left the party en masse on May 26, claiming that Muhyiddin had failed to resolve conflicts at the national and state level. Muhyiddin said there were no tears shed over those who had left the party, as more were eager to be part of PPBM to fight in the next general election.
