This enabled NZ to win the Test by 123 runs and so take out the series. Will’s apparences for Parnell were limited but he did well for Auckland and was awarded Cricketer of the Year – the John Bentham Morris Memorial Trophy, the first Parnell player to be so honoured since Ross Morgan in 1978/79.
