Immediately after the earthquake, UNDP joined the multi-sectoral assessment which looked into the most urgent needs of the affected population. As the co-lead of the Early Recovery (ER) Cluster, UNDP zeroed in on the specific ER needs of the communities and formulated project interventions which could facilitate their early recovery and help establish the foundations for long-term development. With funding assistance of USD 800,000 from the Government of Japan, the project “Debris Management and Livelihood Support for areas affected by the Bohol Earthquake,” or the Bohol Early Recovery Project, was designed to benefit the ten (10) hardest hit municipalities in southwestern Bohol namely, Maribojoc, Antequera, Loon, Calape, Tubigon, Clarin, Inabanga, Sagbayan, Catigbian, and San Isidro. The project later expanded to include the nearby municipality of Carmen (component 1 only) upon the request of its municipal government for assistance in addressing the effects of the earthquake.

HANDUGAN Bohol Island State University, Candijay Campus, Bohol, Phillipines Received 21 January 2015 Accepted 7 April 2015 (*Corresponding Author) Abstract National government issued an Executive Order 26, series of 2011 – declaring interdepartmental convergence initiative for national greening program. Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources commissioned the Bohol Island State University (BISU) Candijay Campus to facilitate the rehabilitation of degraded mangrove areas in coordination with local government units and in partnership of mangrove planters in Northeastern Bohol. Hence, the main objective of the study was to to document the progress and accomplishment of mangrove rehabilitation project in Northeastern Bohol, Philippines. Survived mangroves were counted manually. Principal branch of mangrove was measured to determine the growth performance in 12 months. Identified the sea shells for baseline information and interviewed the mangrove planters for determining the problems. In this study, a 48.36% survival rate was found out after one year of planting. The average growth (in height) was 6.097 cm per month. The Municipality of Candijay had the highest growth rate. Terebralia sp. (Dao-dao) and Narita sp. (Sihi) are the common sea shells found in the reforested areas. Proper selection of site is important before planting Rhizophora sp. INTRODUCTION AND BACKGROUND INFORMATION The Abatan Watershed is the third largest of the 11 major watershed networks that support water needs and other requirements of the island province of Bohol. It covers some 38,628 hectares or close to 9% of the province‟s total land area. It has three distinct land divisions, coastal, lowland and upland.     COMPREHENSIVE PROJECT PROFILE Watershed Rehabilitation, Protection & Development Project I. PROJECT DESCRIPTION Project Title : Watershed Rehabilitation, Protection and Development Project Project Type : Capital forming for the Reforestation of 800 hectares timberland and 200 hectares Alienable and Disposable land located at BIAD 5 Municipalities. Project Components : Multi-Sectoral and Integrated Area Development Projects technology Transfer regarding slopping agriculture and techniques. Tree planting of fruit trees and forest tree species (endemic species) on hilly areas of timberland where undertaken. Agro-forestry on slopping agriculture alienable and disposable areas (Contour Farming Planted with high value crops) Project Location : The project will be located at the eight municipalities of BIAD 5 (Bilar, Batuan, Carmen, Dagohoy, Danao, Sagbayan, Seirra Bullones and Pilar with two watershed areas called Wahig Inabanga Watershed and Loboc River Watershed. It is situated within the forest reserved zone of the province. II. PROJECT STATUS On Going Project-Spot area on some municipalities Integrated Watershed Management for Sustainable Soil and Water Resources Management of the Inabanga Watershed Evaluation and adoption of improved farming practices on Soil and Water Resources. Carmen, Sierra Bullones and Pilar are on going projects. Proposed Project The project is a proposal for the BIAD 5 municipalities since there are still big areas of eight municipalities which is potential for additional rehabilitation and development of natural resources in a sustainable manner. Status of Project Preparation Project Idea This proposed project is categorized as on the stage of project idea and profile is available at the DENR office, only implementation is being modified. The implementation of the project will be given to the interested families (Family approach) with alienable and disposable lots.

It is specifically planted at open hilly lands, barren and denuned areas. II. Project Status : Proposed Project III. Project Justification: Project Background The reduction of poverty, in accordance with the Millennium Development Goals is regarded as a high-priority goal of the Provincial Government of Bohol. This cannot be achieved in isolation from achieving environmental stability and meeting social development goals. Achieving this goal is within the reach given sufficient political will, adequate resources and an integrated response from government and civil society. BIAD 2 cluster is composed of nine (9) municipalities of which, seven (7) of them are geographically located at the north-western coastal part and the two (2) are centrally located in the Province of Bohol. It has a total land area of 83,968 hectares or roughly 20% of the province total land area. Seventy-two (72) or 60,446 hectares are classified into agricultural land and twenty-eight (28) percent is timberland or forestland.
