Its land area of over 600 square kilometres dominates the southern part of the Auckland Region. I The territorial integrity of the district, which stretches from the edge of the Auckland isthmus in the north to the Hunua ranges in the South, is interrupted only by the local authority enclaves of Papatoetoe City and 0tahuhu and Howick I Boroughs. The Manukau City Centre, 25 km south of Auckland Centre, is the natural geographical focus of the city's urban area . When fully developed the urban area I will stretch out from the Centre southwards to Manurewa and Takanini, northeastwards to Otara and Pakuranga and northwest to Mangere. Two-thirds of the City's land area is in rural use, ranging from dairy and town milk supply I units to pastoral farming, horticulture and forestry . A distinctive feature of the district is its extensive coastline of 320 km. -

The chairperson also confirms that they and the committee members don’t have any conflicts of interest and are able to consider the application impartially. The Chairperson may then call upon the parties present to introduce themselves to the committee. The Chairperson is addressed as Mr Chairman or Madam Chair. Any party intending to give written or spoken evidence in Māori or speak in sign language should advise the hearings advisor at least five working days before the hearing so that an interpreter can be provided. Catering is not provided at the hearing. The Hearing Procedure The usual procedure for a District Licensing Committee Hearing is: • The applicant will be called upon to present his/her case either personally or through a representative. The applicant may be represented by legal counsel or consultants and may call witnesses in support of the application. -

Auckland Libraries RDA Monograph Standard
Auckland Libraries Cataloguing policy for monographs The following document contains the minimum requirements for cataloguing using RDA instructions. For full instructions refer to the RDA Toolkit. Auckland Libraries policy on the use of RDA for monograph records is as follows: For Original Cataloguing • Catalogue the title in hand as to what the material is, not the collection the material is being allocated to, e.g. children’s fiction being allocated to a nonfiction collection should have children’s fiction subject headings only. • Use the current Auckland Libraries RDA policy for monographs. For Copy Cataloguing RDA • Catalogue the title in hand as to what the material is, not the collection the material is being allocated to, e.g. children’s fiction being allocated to a nonfiction collection should have children’s fiction subject headings only. • If an RDA record is available, use it and make revisions based on RDA instructions, LC practice, and local coding practices. • If only an AACR2 record is available upgrade record to RDA using the current Auckland Libraries RDA policy for monographs. • If only a hybrid AACR2/RDA record is available upgrade record to RDA using the current Auckland Libraries RDA policy for monographs General Information about RDA and RDA Coding Practices RDA Content -- The content of RDA introduces new concepts with a new organizational scheme that is closely aligned with the entity-attribute-relationship conceptual models of the Functional Requirements for Bibliographic Records (FRBR) and the Functional Requirements for Authority Data (FRAD). RDA does not prescribe any standard for display purposes, but for now most libraries will continue to use MARC and International Standard Bibliographic Description (ISBD). -

Te Ture ā-Rohe Marutau ā-Iwi me te Whakapōrearea 2013 Public Safety and Nuisance Bylaw 2013 (as at 11 January 2021) made by the Governing Body of Auckland Council in resolution GB/2013/84 on 22 August 2013 Bylaw made under sections 145, 146 and 149 of the Local Government Act 2002 and section 64 of the Health Act 1956. Summary This summary is not part of the Bylaw but explains the general effects. The purpose of this Bylaw is to help people to enjoy Auckland’s public places by – • identifying bad behaviours that must be avoided in public places in clause 6, for example disturbing other people or using an object in a way that is dangerous or causes a nuisance • identifying restricted activities in Schedule 1, for example, fireworks, drones, fences, fires, weapons, storing objects, camping or set netting • enabling the restriction of certain activities and access to public places in clauses 7, 8 and 10. Other parts of this Bylaw assist with its administration by – • stating the name of this Bylaw and when it comes into force in clauses 1 and 2 • stating where and when this Bylaw applies in clause 3, in particular that it does not apply to issues covered in other Auckland Council, Auckland Transport or Maunga Authority bylaws • stating the purpose of this Bylaw and defining terms used in clauses 4 and 5 • providing transparency about how decisions are made under this Bylaw in clauses 9 and 11 • referencing Council’s powers to enforce this Bylaw, including powers to take property and penalties up to $20,000 in clauses 12, 13 and 14 • ensuring decisions made prior to amendments coming into force on 01 October 2019 continue to apply in Clause 15 • providing time for bylaw provisions about vehicles to be addressed under the Auckland Council Traffic Bylaw 2015 in clause 16. -

1 Voting: Why Bother? OTENE: My name is Otene Reweti, and I work for Auckland Council. My job tonight is to open our time up here at another Auckland Conversation. My karakia that I will use tonight is the council standard, actually — Whakataka te Hau — and it talks about the winds and the cold. The winds that blow on to the land, the winds that blow offshore,and the winds that bring the cold, the snow, the frost. But every day, as the sun breaks through the dawn, it gives us a glimpse of, perhaps, a glorious day. To me, that talks about the voting as well, because is it going to be a wind of change? Is it going to be the normal wind that blows into Tamaki Makaurau? Whatever the wind that blows, perhaps let our blessing be that it brings a glimpse of something glorious for Tamaki Makaurau. Let us give thanks this evening for that. Your part in this, as you know, to those who usually attend the Conversations, when you hear the words "tuturu whakamaua kia tena", your response is "tena". Auckland Libraries Collection Development Policy April 2013 Auckland Libraries Collection Development Policy Auckland Libraries: your place of imagination, learning and connection 1. Purpose This policy will guide the acquisition, development and management of the collections held by Auckland Council’s libraries, to: improve the quality and relevance of the collections to all customers maximise value in both current and long-term purchases strengthen and preserve the collections for posterity define legal requirements and responsibilities for Auckland Libraries. 2. Background In November 2010, the previous eight councils in Auckland amalgamated to form Auckland Council. Auckland is New Zealand's largest local authority, covering a geographical area of 1100km2 and is home to around a third of New Zealand’s population – an estimated 1.5 million people. It is a vibrant cosmopolitan city made up of more than 180 different ethnicities, and is the city with the largest number of Māori and Pacific peoples in the world. The Libraries and Information Department, known as Auckland Libraries, is the largest public library system in Australasia. Services are delivered through 55 libraries, four mobile libraries and the library website. The libraries are located across the Auckland region from Wellsford in the north to Waiuku in the south, and on Great Barrier and Waiheke islands. The libraries also provide collection support to the 14 rural libraries in the region. Auckland Libraries’ purpose is to connect the diverse communities and people of Auckland with the world of information and ideas, providing opportunities for growth and enjoyment through inspiration, innovation and creativity. 3. Auckland Libraries’ collections There are over 3.5 million items in Auckland Libraries’ collections and over 100 databases provided through the digital library. -

Auckland Council Archives Property information resources guide Resources for Property Research • When researching a property, a good place to start is with a property file which can be ordered via the Auckland Council website. These files are managed by the Building Consents Department. https://www.aucklandcouncil.govt.nz/buying-property/order-property-report/Pages/order-property-file.aspx • A property file provides documents such as building and resource consent documents and any correspondence with the Council about the property. • The contents of the file will depend on whether the Council is aware of work done on the property, how old the building is and what property information has survived from the legacy councils. But what if there is nothing on the property file? Auckland Council Archives Resources for Property Research • Auckland Council Archives holds a range of records useful for researching the histories of properties. • There are many types of property related records that are common to the legacy councils across Auckland. • However, there can be some regional differences and gaps in our holdings. • There are some property records that are unique to certain councils. 35 Grey Street, Onehunga Auckland Council Archives AKC 024/15 Building Permit Information • The Municipal Corporations Act 1876 gave local councils the power to create by- laws to deal with building issues. Even so, until about the mid-20th century the introduction and enforcement of building regulations by councils was inconsistent. • For instance, Birkenhead Borough Council building by-laws in 1910 required people to make a building application and to lodge plans and specifications with the Clerk, but there is no mention that duplicate copies were to be supplied for council records. -
