PBS has enjoyed a long history of working with the BBC to bring titles such as Sherlock and Call the Midwife to our audiences, and we’re happy that this partnership means the relationship will continue to grow. We look forward to sharing more information about the new shows as details become available in the coming months. Also announced at the Press Tour was a new PBS American drama series. Inspired by a true story and set in Alexandria, Virginia, this 6-hour hospital drama and family saga is framed against the backdrop of the Civil War. The series follows two volunteer nurses on opposite sides of the conflict and is set in a family-owned hotel that has been taken over and transformed into a Union Army Hospital. Stay tuned for more details and broadcast dates. Speaking of drama, Downton Abbey wraps up Season Five this month. We hope you’ll have a chance to tune in to the season finale on Sunday, March 1. There was a rumor that this might be the last season, but if you’re an avid viewer, you know there is no way they could wrap up the many stories they have spinning this season. I can assure you there will be a Season Six coming in January 2016! Until then, you can look forward to spending nights with other Masterpiece classics like Mr. Selfridge, enjoy the beauty of contemporary dance with the Mark Morris Dance Company in Great Performances: L’Allegro, il Penseroso ed il Moderato, and end the month engaged by the new Ken Burns documentary, Cancer: Emperor of All Maladies. Again, it’s your support that makes all this incredible programming possible – thank you! The community features independent living, assisted living, memory care, and skilled nursing. “Each resident has priority access to all levels of care,” according to Village Sales Manager Michele Smits. Michele provides more details below. NTS Q. Could you describe The Village at Unity in five words or less? A . Senior Living Like No Other Q. What would you like the WXXI audience to know about The Village at Unity? A. The Village at Unity is dedicated to providing our residents with life enrichment activities. Our residents have the opportunity to participate in a variety of fine arts programming—we host a variety of guest speakers and schedule trips for residents to attend stage and music performances. We have a state-of-the-art artist studio, an on-site cinema EVE theatre, a fitness center, and also provide cooking demonstrations. In addition, we have recently partnered with Roberts Wesleyan College so residents can continue their education. & Q. Why do you think residents and families choose The Village at Unity? A. We’ve heard from residents and their families that our unique community atmosphere is what makes The Village at Unity so special. We offer all of the amenities and services that most residents S need right on campus. Each of our three distinct dining venues offers chef-inspired cuisine and resort-like hospitality, and our events schedule keeps residents busy and engaged. Residents and families also appreciate the piece of mind of having access to the full continuum of care. Q. What is the greatest life lesson or words of wisdom learned from a resident of the Village? A. Our residents have taught me that age is merely a number, and there is a lot of life to live even EW after you’ve made the transition to a retirement community. There is always an opportunity to start a new journey, try something new, create new friendships.
