OKTOBER 2017 John Carpenter avslører nå detaljene rundt sin kommende utgivelse "Anthology: Movie Themes 1974-1998", en samling av klassisk filmmusikk fra den anerkjente regissøren og komponisten, som slippes 20. oktober 2017 via Sacred Bones / Playground Music Scandinavia. Han deler også første smakebit: kjenningsmelodien fra "In The Mouth of Madness" fra 1994. HØR "MOUTH OF MADNESS" HER John Carpenter kan kalles en legende. Som regissør og komponist for flere titalls klassiske filmer, har Carpenter etablert seg et rykte som en av de største filmskaperne i moderne filmhistorie, i tillegg til en av filmverdenens mest innflytelsesrike musikere. Den minimale, synth-drevne filmmusikken til filmer som "Halloween", "Escape From New York" og "Assault on Precinct 13" er like minneverdige som bildene på skjermen. Komposisjonenes tidløshet ble demonstrert da Carpenter fremførte dem live på scenen på en rekke internasjonale, utsolgte konserter i fjor. "Anthology: Movie Themes 1974-1998" er en samling 13 klassiske melodier fra Carpenters lysende karriere, samlet i et volum for første gang. Hvert spor er spilt inn med de samme musikerne Carpenter jobbet med da han lagde sine populære studioalbum "Lost Themes": sønnen hans Cody Carpenter og gudsønnen Daniel Davies. "Anthology..." er en omfattende samling av nesten alle John Carpenters beste komposisjoner, fra hans aller første film, lavbudsjetts sci-fi-filmen "Dark Star", til den overnaturlige westernfilmen "Vampires" fra 1998. I tillegg hører vi den drivende, Led Zeppelin-inspirerte kjenningsmelodien fra "Assault on Precinct 13", det ikoniske pianopartiet fra "Halloween", og de uhyggelige synth- tonene fra "The Fog". Carpenter og bandet hans covrer også Ennio Morricone sin dystre, minimalistiske musikk fra "The Thing". "I asked Morricone to please compose something with a very few notes", sier Carpenter. "And brilliantly, he did." Vi får også høre vitale nyinnspillinger av filmmusikken fra 80-tallsklassikere og fan-favoritter som "Big Trouble in Little China", "Escape From New York", "Christine" og "They Live", i tillegg til den romantiske "Starman", som Jeff Bridges ble nominert til sin første Oscar for. Samlingen avrundes med de truende, tunge tonene fra "Prince of Darkness" og "In the Mouth of Madness".
