The BMW M3 GTR was a dominant competitor throughout the single season that it contested. Bill Auberlen, Boris Said and Hans J-Stuck capped off the season for BMW North America by winning the 2001 Petit Le Mans finale. As a tribute to a grieving nation and to those who lost their lives in 9/11, BMW Team PTG owner Tom Milner had created the patriotic “Stars and Stripes” design specifically for this race. As a result of the win and the special livery, the car became a legend for BMW racing fans in America. Bill Auberlen will be in attendance at the Legends of the Autobahn M3 GTR display for the unveiling of the car that bears his name on its side.

Woodcliff Lake, N.J. – August 8, 2016…BMW USA Classic will run seven historic race cars at the 2016 Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion on August 18-21 in Monterey, California. BMW is the featured marquee at the Rolex Reunion and the brand will be represented by 64 vintage BMW race cars ranging from a strong group of 1930’s 328s to the all concurring BMW V12 LMR of 1999. The Rolex Reunion promises to be the largest gathering of BMW M1 ProCars ever assembled in the USA. Finally, all five factory IMSA specification 3.0 CSLs will be back together for the first time since they raced in1975 and 1976. Rather than a static heritage display that is typical for the featured marquee at the Rolex Reunion, BMW of North America has developed the ‘BMW Living Legends Garage’ to house a selection of BMW’s that chronicle the history of the company’s racing heritage. Many of these cars will be actively competing in the racing action throughout the weekend so visitors will be able to see, hear and feel the living history of the brand. Among the 64 BMWs racing in the Rolex Reunion will be seven cars from the BMWUSA Classic collection.

  • Manawatu Car Club Inc Magazine October 2020
B Manawatu Car Club Inc Magazine October 2020 Page 1 of 54 EDITORSPEAK… email: [email protected] After bashing my head against a brick wall with Auckland Transports “sledgehammer to crack a nut” approach to road safety, I’m heartened to see that the proposed speed limit changes in the local Manawatu area (submissions closed early last month) seem to have been proposed in a considered and commonsense manner and in some cases go contrary to current NZTA recommendations. Obviously lowering speed limits or having a flexible limit around schools is a no brainer, but, for example, not lowering the limit on the Pahiatua Track to below 80kph seems to indicate that whoever was responsible has a pretty good handle on the realities of travelling on rural and semi-rural Manawatu roads. Well done that bloke/blokess, let’s hope the submission process doesn’t overturn these totally sensible options. The final round of the FAE Winter series proved to be a game of two halves. Run under Covid restrictions it became a 2-day affair like the first round, and the weather went from a beautiful sunny Saturday to a wet and average Sunday. Of course the MX5’s got to run on Sunday!! Waking up to the sound of rain wasn’t promising, though a quick look at the forecast on my phone revealed it clearing from 9.00am. Quite simply, they lied. A massive contrast to my trip down from Auckland the previous day, Tee shirt, sun streaming down from a clear blue sky, the mountains looking magnificent cloaked in white….

BMW Team Great Britain – RBM. Andy Priaulx (GBR) – Startnummer 11.
