Debido a la fragmentación de esta información encontrada en registros bibliográficos, se tomó como objetivo reunir y actualizar esta información, determinar cuál es la ofidiofauna del Chaco y de sus subregiones, y elaborar mapas de registros de cada una de las especies. Además se analizó la diversidad funcional, taxonómica y filogenética entre las subregiones chaqueñas, bajo la hipótesis de que las características ambientales condicionan la diversidad funcional, -

The species included in this section number 866, of which 215 are paleospecies and 151 are neospecies. Dentro de los Notogrues se observa una paulatina tendencia hacia la pérdida del vuelo y la carnivoría. -

Titanis Walleri: Bones of Contention

Quitmyer2 Titanis walleri, one of the largest and possibly the last surviving member of the otherwise South American Phorusrhacidae is re- considered in light of all available data. The only verified phorusrhacid recovered in North America, Titanis was believed to exhibit a forward-extending arm with a flexible claw instead of a traditional bird wing like the other members of this extinct group. Our review of the already described and undescribed Titanis material housed at the Florida Museum of Natural History suggest that Titanis: (1) was like other phorusrhacids in sporting small, ineffectual ratite-like wings; (2) was among the tallest of the known phorusrhacids; and (3) is the last known member of its lineage. Hypotheses of its range extending into the Pleistocene of Texas are challenged, and herein Titanis is presumed to have suffered the same fate of many other Pliocene migrants of the Great American Interchange: extinction prior to the Pleistocene. The species preys primarily on frogs but opportunistically consumes other vertebrates, including rodents, reptiles, and fish (Bernarde et al., 2000). -

Liolaemus is one of the most diverse genera of vertebrates, currently comprising 267 species classified into sev- eral monophyletic groups. Among them is the Liolaemus wiegmannii clade, including obligate sand-dwelling lizards with particular morphological traits and behavioural patterns associated with their habitat. One member of this group is Lio laemus rabinoi, a species from Argentina that has formerly been considered extinct. It was first found in 1972 on the mar- gins of the El Nihuil dam in San Rafael, Mendoza, Argentina. Four additional specimens of L. rabinoi were recorded in 1974–75, but subsequent searches were unsuccessful and resulted in the inclusion of this species in red conservation lists. In November 2010, new specimens of lizards assignable to L.
