To be a Knight

When you ask me why I do it, Why I stand up as a Knight... I reflect on the moment, When, to me, it was right.

I had seen the Regalia; Watched old men march in church, Thought it amusing, neigh alluring, That it was not mine to search.

The true moment that engaged me, That shocked my myopic heart, Was when a good friend asked me, What I felt was my part.

I really couldn't answer, I felt humbled and quite late, As if I'd let my whole self down, As if left alone at the gate.

To me, Knights are men, Who stand faith formed and caring, Who are eager to invest, Of their wealth, time and sharing.

I might not know your name, We might never be acquainted, But to me a good Knight, Models the lives of those Sainted.

When we speak of God's mercy, When we soulfully pray, We advance the intentions, Of those stuck in evil's fray.

So, I'm a Knight of Columbus, From now on to eternity, I defend Catholic freedoms, Through Charity, Unity and Fraternity.

FR. MICHAEL J. MCGIVENY FOUNDERS DAY MASS Tuesday, March 29, 2016 Mary Mother of God Church 2745 North Ridge Trail, Oakville, L6H 7A3 7:00PM

Join with the Knights of Columbus at a Mass to celebrate the Founder of the Knights of Columbus, Fr. Michael J. McGiveny On Founder's Day this March 29th, we celebrate the anniversary of the Knights of Columbus. As we celebrate the legacy of Venerable Michael McGivney and the contributions of our brother Knights since 1882, we also prepare for an even greater future as we live out the vision of our founder. The anniversary of the realization of Father McGivney’s dream is a cause for celebration. Councils throughout the Order observe this day – among their own members and with the community at large – as a reminder of what the

Knights of Columbus has accomplished in the past years, the ideals of the Order, and their own local achievements. Following Mass a small social will be held.
