Evans Sanjay Sarma MIT Briefing Book 3 MIT Washington Office The MIT Washington Office was established in 1991 to provide a presence in the nation’s capital for MIT, one of the country’s premier academic institutions with a long history of contributing to U.S. leadership in science and technology. A part of the MIT President’s Office, the Washington Office works closely with the Institute’s senior leaders to develop and advance policy positions on R&D and education issues. The office also supports major MIT initiatives in areas where national policy is being developed, currently including advanced manufacturing; the conver gence of the life, engineering and physical sciences; energy and the environment; and innovative educational technologies.
