On Jan. 30, these two FCHS students were honored by the National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT) with this award. The banquet, held at BankOne Tower in downtown Indianapolis, honored 20 female high school students from throughout the state of Indiana for their IT/computing achievements, leadership abilities, and academic accomplishments. Monica has taken several IT classes through the FCHS Business Department. She has also taken Computer Programming (using the Visual Basic. NET language) and is currently enrolled in Computer Science AP. Monica is also on the Robotics Team, Student Council, Show Choir, Student Ambassadors, and the Track & Field team. Jasmine, one of three sophomores earning this award, is currently enrolled in Computer Programming and will be taking Computer Science AP next year. She is an administrator of the VEX Robotics Team and is a senior officer in the World Cultures Club. Jasmine has also attended TAX TIME SAVINGS! a summer Nanotechnology camp and Women in Engineering camp at IUPUI.
