ON THE COVER: 30th Year of Soccer Excellence—Michael Pantalione, Yavapai’s first and only head soccer coach, started the program in August of 1988. The initial team members arrived on campus one year later. On November 18, 1990, in just their 39th match in school history, the Roughriders captured their first of seven national championships. Seven hundred and two official matches later, the winning tradition, high standards and positive image on and off the field remains the program’s foundation thanks to great players making great teams producing great memories. Under his direction, Yavapai developed the most successful Junior College soccer program in the nation, capturing 77 championships including 2 National Junior College Athletic Assoc. seven national championships, 19 final four finishes, a combined 43 region and district championships along with 27 3 The Coaches conference titles.
