GRAND PRIX RULEBOOK 2013 Grand Prix 2013 is series of races of Open Czech Championship in classes PR/24, ES/32, F1/32, ES/24. Last update 2013-01-01 1. Race calendar 1. Rulebook and race results Rulebook and race results are available on Grand Prix web pages. 2.2. Grand Prix direction 2.2.1. Chairman Chairman is responsible for whole series (organization, technical rules and results). 2.2.2. Race director Race director is responsible for running the race. He is also responsible for running the whole event including the results service and keeping to the time schedule. 2.2.3. Technical committee Technical committee consists of the chairman and two technical inspectors. Technical inspectors are appointed by the chairman for each event and each class. Technical committee is responsible for technical inspection, technical control before final and pit area. They solve technical issues related to the cars. 2.2.4. Race jury Race jury consists of the race director, two stewards and one steward deputy. They are appointed by chairman for each event. Race jury solves issues with lap counter, penalties, rules interpretation, etc. 2.3. Entry fee and registration Experts 200 CZK per class Amateurs and juniors (16-18 years) 150 CZK per class Kids (under 15 years) 100 CZK per class Entry fee must be paid for all classes during registration before the race. 2.4. Track condition Track must be cleaned and spray glued by race organizer before the start of open practice. Drivers cannot alter the track surface condition in any way. Only the track braid/strip may be cleaned. Only the race direction may modify the track condition, upon the authorisation of the race jury. It is prohibited to use non Slot Racing chemicals (e.g. RC rubber softener). - 2 - 1.1.2013 Grand Prix Rulebook 2013 2.5. Time schedule Friday: 14.00 – 18.00 open practice – all classes 17.00 – 21.00 registration first class 18.00 – 22.00 practice Saturday: 7.30 – 8.00 practice 8.00 – 8.30 technical inspection 9.00 – short race 1 hour practice long race second class 2 hours practice Sunday: 7.30 – 8.00 practice 8.00 – 8.30 technical inspection 9.00 – short race 1 hour practice long race Time schedule can be modified depending on the number of entries. 2.6. Race procedure 2.6.1. Amateurs and experts An Expert is a driver who has made at least one semi-final at an ISRA Worlds. Other drivers are placed in a group of Amateurs. This split can be modified in individual cases by the chairman. Amateurs and Experts always race together. 2.6.2. Practice Practice on Friday from 2 to 6 p.m. is open for all classes. Before each class there are 2 hours of open practice and 1 hour between short and long race. 2.6.3. Class order PR/24 – ES/24 ES/32 – F1/32 2.6.4. Technical inspection Technical inspection is completed by the Technical committee. Legal cars can be marked by technical inspectors. A second, identical, body can be submitted for technical inspection. 2.6.5. Enclosed park All legal cars, including spare bodies, are placed in enclosed park after technical inspection. Technical inspectors return cars at the start of qualification and at the start of heats or final. Before the final of long race in ES/32, F1/32 and ES/24 there is a 30 min. service break. Track has power on during this break. Only the race car may be used. All cars have to be at technical inspection at the end of the service break. Non legal cars must be repaired and checked during warm-up or during the race. 2.6.6. Drivers list Qualification order is determined by ranking of previous year for the first race and by actual ranking for following races. - 3 - 1.1.2013 Grand Prix Rulebook 2013 Starting list of heats, final of short race ES/32, F1/32, ES/24 and final PR/24 is determined by qualification results. Drivers chose starting lanes for the final of long race in ES/32, F1/32 and ES/24 in order determined by heat results. 2.6.7. Short race Qualification All drivers run 1min. – the best lap time is counted. Main race All drivers run 8x4 min. 2.6.8. Long race PR/24 Qualification All drivers run 1min. – number of laps and number of last lap sections is counted. Main race All drivers run 8x7.5 min. There is no warm-up before 1st segment. Race result is the sum of laps and sections from qualification and final. 2.6.9. Long race ES/32, F1/32, ES/24 Qualification All drivers run 1min. – the best lap time is counted. Heats All drivers run 8x3 min. Drivers who qualified in the first 8 places are in the A group etc. First 16 drivers from heats move to the final. Final 16 drivers run 8x5 min. 2.6.10. Start of segments Cars are returned at the start of qualification, heats and final by the race organizer or technical inspectors. Before the first segment of each stage there is a 1 min. “warm-up” (except final of long race PR/24). After any repairs during the warm-up the car is re-checked on the start line. First segment starts from the start line and following segments start from the position where the car finished the previous segment. After the last segment, lap sections are written. 2.6.11. Lane change Lane change is 1 min. During the lane change, it is allowed to only change the lane sticker, adjust braids and push in body pins. Using tools and chemicals is prohibited. 2.6.12. Track call Race director can stop the race only if the car is in an unmarshallable position (i.e. under bridge, on main straight or on the floor in an area indirectly accessible), when there is a rider (a car on the wrong lane) or if the track is damaged (i.e. braid up, power failure). Drivers can ask for stop by calling the word “Stop” or “Track”. An illegal track call is penalized. During a track call the only repairs allowed are adjusting braids and pushing in body pins. If a car was damaged by another driver on the main straight, or by a marshal mistake, the race director can give the driver a reasonable amount of time to make a necessary repair. 2.6.13. Lane rotation Lane rotation is “1-3-5-7-8-6-4-2” 2.6.14. Marshalling Drivers, at the end of their group, must marshal in the next group. In the first group, marshalling will be done by the drivers of the A group. In the final, drivers of the A group marshal the B group and vice-versa. Missing marshals will be penalized. 2.7. Protests A driver may protest in written form within 15 minutes of the end of a race with a protest fee of 300 CZK. Race jury have a maximum of 1 hour to decide the result of the protest. - 4 - 1.1.2013 Grand Prix Rulebook 2013 2.8. Penalties Unsportsmanlike conduct - first infraction - warning - second infraction - 10 laps - third infraction - disqualification Illegal track call - 2 laps Illegal repair during lane change or track call, using tools or chemicals - 10 laps Using illegal parts (change chassis, etc) - disqualification Missing marshalling in race - 10 laps Accidental crash on the straight in front of the drivers - 10 laps Late return after service break - 10 laps 2.9. Results 2.9.1. Points In each class, drivers are awarded whole points for the first 16 places (25-21-18-16-14-12-10- 9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1). From 17th place onwards, drivers receive partial points which are equal to their order from the end. Other points awarded, include the 2 fastest qualifiers (2-1). All points are counted in total ranking. In case of identical points, the ranking is determined by the best results achieved by the driver. Amateurs are evaluated separately. 2.9.2. Czech champion Winner in total ranking becomes Czech champion. - 5 - 1.1.2013 Grand Prix Rulebook 2013 3. Technical specification 3.1. General rules 3.1.1. Front wheels must be black, rotate on their axes and must be placed vertically on the chassis. 3.1.2. Body cutting must maintain every detail of the real car (i.e. lights, wheel position) and have the form as produced by the manufacturer. No additional aerodynamic part is allowed. 3.1.3. Body must be completely opaque. Windows must be clear and all four wheels must be completely visible when viewed from the side. 3.1.4. All cars must display numbers in at least 3 different positions. 3.1.5. Driver name must be displayed on the chassis or on the body. 3.1.6. All cars must have 3-dimensional interior in the original cockpit position and block any view of the chassis from above. 3.1.7. The body must cover the entire chassis including the rear tires and guide flag in at least one position. 3.2. Group X12 motor specification 3.2.1. Only parts from following producers are approved: Mura, Champion, Proslot, RJR, Cahoza, Koford, Red Fox, Kamen and Viper.
