Finally, during the Lockdown of the population due to the 1999 - 2000 Covid-19 virus pandemic presented an opprtunity to finish the project. The earlier transcriptions are largely as printed in the earlier documents though some errors of the Optical Character Recognition software have been corrected. Reading old gravestone inscriptions is difficult and subject to various errors and the earlier transcriptions are rather abrupt so all three of the updates have been included so as to include all the quotations which, in my mind, reflect the times and bring the deceased to life in some ways.     Westbury & Yockleton Parish Plan 2015 - 2017 1 Our Parish objectives 2015 – 2017. 1. Speeding – improve traffic calming measures and increase frequency of speed monitoring by the Police. 2. Housing – improve opportunities for people to stay in the area. 3. Employment - encourage local economic development generally and growth in the local jobs market. 4. Education - St. Mary’s Church of England of England Primary School - encourage residents in the area to access this excellent educational resource. 5. Healthy Westbury - the Parish Council wants to play its part in improving the health status of local people. 6. Environment – a. Replace and upgrade street lighting over the next two years two years. b. Support for dog owners – increase provision of bins for use by dog owners. c. Local flooding problems - where there are issues work with residents and local authority to ensure flooding matters are resolved effectively. d. Road safety work with the highways department and police to improve road safety. 2 e. Encourage land owners to maintain public foot paths on their land. 7. Engagement and participation - build a Westbury Parish web site. 8. Campaign for all residents in the Parish to have access to superfast broadband facilities. 9. Policing - keep Policing under review and continue a close working relationship with PC J Summerfield and PCSO A Roberts. 10. Support farmers who experience illegal hunting e.g. lamping on their land or experience acts of rural crime relating to equipment, livestock etc. 3 Westbury Parish Council Members. Westbury Ward.
