These regulations were re- proposed in September to allow appropriate legal notice for public comment with final approval at the October Commission Meeting. Prepared by: Luke Naylor 2015-2016 Additional Migratory Bird Regulations Approvals Proposed Changes - Red Ink Proposed Calendar Adjustments – Orange Ink Proposed Code Clarifications - Blue Ink 20.07 PERMIT REQUIREMENTS ON CERTAIN WMAs 06-15 It is unlawful to take or attempt to take wildlife during an open season on certain WMAs without first obtaining the required permit (Codes 20.16; 20.17 and Addendum Chapter C1.00) and as specified below: (A) A permit is required on Bald Knob, Big Lake, Cache River, Felsenthal, Holla Bend, Overflow, Pond Creek and Wapanocca NWRs; Bayou Meto WMA, Crossett Experimental Forest WMA; and U of A Pine Tree Experimental Station WDA. (B) A leased land permit is required for persons 16 years and older to camp, hunt or trap wildlife on Big Timber, Casey Jones, Cherokee, Gum Flats, Howard County, Jack Mountain, Jim Kress, Lafayette County (except no permit is required to camp on Lafayette County), Lake Greeson (no permit is required for mobility impaired hunters hunting during the mobility impaired permit hunt) and Provo Leased Lands WMAs. AUGUST 2015 T H E O B A L D E T A L . 1713 A Synoptic Classification of Inflow-Generating Precipitation in the Snowy Mountains, Australia ALISON THEOBALD AND HAMISH MCGOWAN Climate Research Group, School of Geography, Planning and Environmental Management, University of Queensland, St Lucia, Queensland, Australia JOHANNA SPEIRS Snowy Hydro, Ltd., Sydney, New South Wales, Australia NIK CALLOW Environmental Dynamics and Ecohydrology, School of Earth and Environment, University of Western Australia, Crawley, Western Australia, Australia (Manuscript received 24 October 2014, in final form 23 April 2015) ABSTRACT Precipitation falling in the Snowy Mountains region of southeastern Australia provides fuel for hydroelectric power generation and environmental flows along major river systems, as well as critical water resources for agricultural irrigation. A synoptic climatology of daily precipitation that triggers a quantifiable increase in streamflow in the headwater catchments of the Snowy Mountains region is presented for the period 1958–2012. Here, previous synoptic-meteorological studies of the region are extended by using a longer-term, year-round precipitation and reanalysis dataset combined with a novel, automated synoptic-classification technique. A three-dimensional representation of synoptic circulation is developed by effectively combining meteorological variables through the depth of the troposphere. Eleven distinct synoptic types are identified, describing key circulation features and moisture pathways that deliver precipitation to the Snowy Mountains. Synoptic types with the highest precipitation totals are commonly associated with moisture pathways originating from the northeast and northwest of Australia. These systems generate the greatest precipitation totals across the westerly and high-elevation areas of the Snowy Mountains, but precipitation is reduced in the eastern-elevation areas in the lee of the mountain ranges. -

The information contained in this report was considered by the ACT Heritage Council in assessing the nomination for the Corroboree Ground and Aboriginal Cultural Area, Queanbeyan River against the heritage significance criteria outlined in s 10 of the Heritage Act 2004. HISTORY The Ngunnawal people are traditionally affiliated with the lands within the Canberra region. In this citation, ‘Aboriginal community’ refers to the Ngunnawal people and other Aboriginal groups within the ACT who draw significance from the place. Whilst the term ‘Aboriginal community’ acknowledges these groups in the ACT, it is recognised that their traditional territories extend outside contemporary borders. These places attest to a rich history of Aboriginal connection to the area. Traditional Aboriginal society in Canberra during the nineteenth century suffered from dramatic depopulation and alienation from traditional land based resources, although some important social institutions like intertribal gatherings and corroborees were retained to a degree at least until the 1860s. -
