American Nephrology Nurses Association Daily Capitol Hill Update – Monday, December 23, 2019 (The following information comes from Bloomberg Government Website) Schedules: White House and Congress WHITE HOUSE President Trump at Mar-a-Lago; no public events scheduled CONGRESS House, Senate have departed for the year Congressional, Health Policy, and Political News Pelosi’s Delay Debated: Lawmakers and administration officials sparred yesterday about the delay by Pelosi in sending articles of Trump’s impeachment to the Senate. Plans for a Senate trial are on hold, since Pelosi hasn’t forwarded the articles, in what’s seen as an attempt to pressure Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) to allow witnesses. He has said he wants a quick trial. o “We are quite confident that this position is untenable and she’s going to move it along. She will yield. There is no way she can hold this position,” Marc Short, chief of staff to Vice President Mike Pence, said on Fox News Sunday. Short said Trump is frustrated by Pelosi’s delay, but “also anxious to get not just acquitted but exonerated in the Senate.” o Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.), a 2020 presidential hopeful, said Pelosi has “been a lightworker in dark times” and will do the right thing. “Those articles will come over,” Booker said on NBC’s Meet the Press. “What she’s just trying to do is to make sure the best possible case for a fair trial happens.” Trump, Giuliani Speak: Trump spoke briefly with personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani, who’s under federal investigation, on Saturday night during a gathering at his private resort in Palm Beach, Fla.

December 22, 2020 David S. Ferriero Archivist of the United States 700 Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W. Washington, D.C. 20408 BY EMAIL: [email protected] Re: Request for Specific Guidance on Social Media Content Preservation Dear Mr. Ferriero: As the United States moves forward with the ongoing peaceful transfer of power, we write to urge you to take immediate action to protect the ability to preserve all social media content sent or received by Trump administration officials on accounts used for official government business pursuant to the requirements of the Presidential Records Act (“PRA”) and the Federal Records Act (“FRA”).1 While there is no ambiguity around government officials’ legal obligation to preserve presidential and federal records created or stored on social media platforms, this administration’s actions cast serious doubts on whether they will comply with those obligations. Because we cannot rely on Trump administration officials’ compliance with their statutory recordkeeping obligations, we are requesting that the National Archives and Records Administration (“NARA”) provide specific guidance regarding the capture of content that lives in any social media accounts that are used for official government business as part of its ongoing transition coordination with social media companies. More than any of his predecessors, President Trump has routinely used social media to communicate directly with the American public in his official capacity. Many of President Trump’s most significant policy and personnel decisions have

KLMNO Democracy Dies in Darkness www.washingtonpost.com | February 16, 2020 Politics ‘Something has to be done’: Trump’s quest to rewrite history of the Russia probe By Philip Rucker https://wapo.st/3aJhj44 President Trump speaks about border security in the South Court Auditorium of the White House on Feb. 14. (Jabin Botsford/The Washington Post) The U.S. intelligence community long ago produced evidence of Russia’s illegal interference in the 2016 presidential election to try to boost Donald Trump’s candidacy. Then the special counsel inves- tigating the matter detailed myriad ways President Trump sought to stymie the probe. And then Robert S. Mueller III testified to Con- gress about Trump’s conduct — and warned of Russia’s continued interest in thwarting U.S. elections. But it is Trump who is trying to have the last word. FEBRUARY 16, 2020 www.washingtonpost.com PAGE 2 Seven months after Mueller’s marathon testimony brought finality to the Russia investigation, Trump is actively seeking to rewrite the narrative that had been meticulously documented by federal law enforcement and intelligence officials, both for immediate political gain and for history. Turbocharged by his acquittal in the Senate’s impeachment trial and confident that he has acquired the fealty of nearly every Repub- lican in Congress, Trump is claiming vindication and exoneration not only over his conduct with Ukraine — for which the House voted to impeach him — but also from the other investigations that have dogged his presidency. The president was acquitted on both charges of impeachment by the Senate, with Sen.
