Art Materials Service, Inc. (AMS) was founded in 1976 to provide reliable generic hardware to the aluminum picture framing industry. By 1985, AMS became the world’s largest manufacturer of metal hardware to this industry with a reputation for high quality and fair prices. Our continually expand- ing primary product line consists of metal hardware to assemble, hang, and secure aluminum, wood and plastic picture frames. Other items in our line include self-locking protective corrugated corners, mounting materials, laminating films, wire, easel backs, and a growing selection of hand- and air- operated machines used for the installation of AMS parts. PLEASE NOTE: Minimum invoice value for domestic orders has been decreased to $150.00. Orders under $150.00 will incur a $35.00 handling fee. $300.00 minimum order for exports. For a majority of applications, this system replaces dry mounting systems, spray adhesives, rubber cements, and coated films. This system is 80% less expensive to use than dry mount because it costs less than 5¢ per square foot (0.0929 m2). The glue machine requires no warm up time and takes only seconds to apply a clear, micro-thin coating -- 12 inches (30.5cm) are covered in 4 seconds. Within 2 minutes after burnishing, artwork can be repositioned. Within 15 minutes, glue will dry into a strong permanent bond that will not crack, peel, or yellow. AMS adhesive is non-toxic and does not emit fumes or odors, hence it provides a safe work environment. The adhesive is also acid-free, water-soluble, and will not damage your artwork. This special adhesive requires that at least one mounting surface be porous. For example, photos can be mounted to foamboard or matboard, but not to plastic sheets. This system does not use heat to apply adhesive. Simply feed your pictures into the turning rollers of our tabletop model allowing a micro-thin layer of adhesive to be applied for easy mounting. Since the paper moves through the rollers quickly, there is no danger that the special adhesive will soak through even the thinnest paper. After positioning on surface, rub smaller pictures down with paper towels or cloths using circular rubbing motions. For larger pictures use a pressure roller or vacuum press to push out air bubbles. Minimal maintenance is required -- just clean glue tray approximately every two weeks. Glue spills can be wiped up simply with water. Cold Glue Roller Machines -- Made in the USA Glue Systems

You can lessen this situation by lifting the mat(s) up off the painting by inserting strips of mat board or foam board behind the mats to make a generous space for the dust to fall into. Make sure the lifters go all the way to the outside edge of the mats to support the backing. (See Figure 2) The dust will settle on the mat bevels and every time the frame is jostled the dust will filter down between the mat and the glass. Another good remedy uses “reverse bevel” mat(s) as shown in Figures 3 and 4.

  • 1 Fibre Box Handbook Glossary Adhesive
Fibre Box Handbook Glossary A Adhesive: Substance capable of adhering one surface to another. For fiberboard boxes, the substance is used to hold plies of solid fiberboard together, to hold linerboard to the tips of flutes of corrugated medium, or to hold overlapping flaps together to form the joint or to close a box. Anilox System: Inking system used in flexographic presses. B Bale: A shaped unit, usually containing compressible articles or materials, enclosed in a fiberboard container not conforming to the carriers’ rules for a box, or enclosed in other wrapping, and bound by strapping, rope or wire under tension. Banded Unit: A package or palletized load that has a band or bands (usually plastic) applied to it. Bar Code: An identification symbol. Alpha or alpha-numeric information is encoded in a sequence of high-contrast, rectangular bars and blank spaces. The relative widths of these bars and spaces and their sequence differentiate the individual characters that make up the encoded information. Bar codes are “read” by electronic scanners. Basis Weight (of Containerboard): Weight of linerboard or corrugating medium expressed in terms of pounds per 1,000 square feet (msf). Bending: In the expression "proper bending qualities," the ability of containerboard or combined board to be folded along score lines without rupture of the surface fibers to the point of seriously weakening the structure. Blank or Box Blank: A flat sheet of corrugated or solid fiberboard that has been cut, slotted and scored so that, when folded along the score lines and joined, it will take the form of a box.

  • Government Paper Specification Standards | September 2019 | No.13
GOVERNMENT SEPTEMBER 2019 | NO. 13 September 2019 TO: HEADS OF DEPARTMENTS AND AGENCIES The U.S. Government Publishing Office (GPO) provides Federal agencies with highly valuable advice and assistance in obtaining their printing needs. One of the ways in which we provide this assistance is in the development and issuance of Government paper standards. The purpose of these standards is to (1) achieve compliance with relevant statutes regarding printing papers; (2) address environmental, workplace safety, and paper longevity issues; and (3) maximize savings in the Government’s paper purchases and ultimately your print projects. These standards are available for use by all departments of the Government and their field offices. Some standards are specialty grades with limited availability and have been designated within the standard. Generally these stocks are procured as mill run quantities. There is maximum flexibility in specifying color, texture, and recycled content. The use of these standards will achieve the greatest possible savings in paper stocks for your agency’s printing needs. If you have any questions about unique substrates such as paper manufactured with security features, please contact your National Accounts Manager. Please do not hesitate to contact your GPO customer service representative with any suggestions you may have to improve this publication.
