What were the qualities of the king chosen by the Prophet? The king chosen by the Prophet was knowledgeable honorable and stronger and more patient during combat. He had more knowledge of warfare. 3. “Quality is more important than quantity,” do you agree with this statement? Support you answer with some events in this story. Yes, quality is more important than quantity. When the faithful, under the command of Talut, faced their enemy, who were many under the command of Jalut, they won the battle even though they were few in number. Because of their faith in Allah they were able to defeat their enemy. 4. What were the motivation techniques used by the king to gain victory and to defeat the enemies? When Talut set out with his forces, he said to them, “God will test you with a river; whoever drinks from it is not with me and whoever does not drink is with me. However there will be no blame upon one who sips only a handful from it. But except for a few of them, they all drank from it. When he and those who believed along with him had crossed the river, they said, “we have no strength today against Goliath and his warriors. But those who believed that they would meet God, said; Many a small group by God's command has prevailed against a large group. God is indeed with the steadfast. 5. What was the duaa mentioned in this story? ربنا افرغ علينا صبرا و ثبت اقدامنا وانصرنا على القوم الكافرين Our Lord, Pour forth on us patience, and set firm our feet and make us victorious over the disbelieving people. 6. Discuss the scholars' opinions on what was in the Tabut. and others إبن جرير الطبري Ibn Jarir At-Tabari related that Ibn Abbas and many other scholars said about the Tabut contained Musa's staff and the remnants of the Tablets. Ikrimah added that it also contained the Torah. Abdur-Razzaq said that he asked Ath-thawri who said that it contained a pot of Al-Mann (food came from Allah to the Children of Israel) and the remnants of the Tablets while some said that it contained Musa's staff and two shoes. 7. Describe and discuss the emergence of Dawud as a Prophet and king of the children of Israel. Dawud killed Jalut. Israelite accounts claim that Dawud killed Goliath (Jalut) with a slingshot that he had, which he launched at Goliath causing his death. Talut promised that whoever killed Jalut, would marry his daughter and would share kingship and authority. He kept his promise. Later the kingship was transferred to Prophet Dawud in addition to being granted Prophet-hood and knowledge by Allah after Shamwil.
