• The midterm will cover chapters 1-14.
• Please go over questions at the end the chapters, as the questions on the exam will be of similar style.
Important Topics to Review:
1) What are the main attributes of Allah? Be able to name at least three examples with
translation.
2) What does Allah promise in the Quran? In particular what is his promise to Musa?
3) Be able to name three objectives of the Quran. Also be able to define the term Al-Shifa.
4) How long did take for the Quran to be revealed? Which khalifa made the first copy of the
Quran, and which Khalifa made several copies for circulation after that? Which famous
companion wrote down the Quran?
5) What is Lauhe Mahfuz? Be able to name all of the other scriptures, as well as one other
name for the Quran itself.
6) What is the literal (English) translation of the shahadah? Also be able to distinguish the
difference in the two parts of shahadah.
7) What is Sahih Sittah? Be able to name all six books of hadith. Also be able to define the
term isnad.
8) What is Nuh most famous for? What lessons can we learn from his story? 9) Who are Talut, Jalut, and Dawud? Specifically, who was Jalut in English, and how does
Dawud defeat him? What three things do we need to become successful like Dawud?
10) Who are the two groups fighting in the battle between Talut and Jalut? Which book did
Dawud receive?
11) What is the relationship between Dawud and Sulaiman? Know an example of Sulaiman’s
fair judgement and some examples of his abilities.
12) Who was the queen of Sheba? What is the story with her and Sulaiman?
13) Who is Firawn? What is his relationship with Musa? What happened after Musa returned
to Egypt? Be able to name some of the signs sent to Musa.
14) Who are the Bani Israel? Why did they rebel? What divine revelation did Musa receive
when he was with the Bani Israel? What happened to the people of Bani Israel after they
refused to invade canaan?
15) Who is Khidr? What are the three important stories that occur with Khidr? What lessons
can we learn from these stories?
