It will be a celebration of work done in modern language classrooms across the county. It builds on the research into modern language teaching over a number of years at KEGS and the findings that show that poetry with beginner learners increases motivation and accelerates progress. Poetry by Heart also supports the new Programme of Study at KS3 and pre-shadows the new GCSE reforms in modern languages. All schools taking part in the festival are key members of the Essex MFL Seminar Group where teachers are committed to exploring and sharing best practice in language teaching. However, this is the first time that students have come together to jointly celebrate and enjoy their learning. Each school held its own Poetry by Heart competition in languages to select final performers for the festival celebration. Students have been hugely excited by the prospect of taking part and have worked very hard to learn and perfect their performances. Why Mid Essex?
What is Mid Essex ITT? Mid Essex is a school-based Initial Teacher Training scheme. This means that you will undertake most of your training within a school environment. We will train you to teach at secondary school level. Tell me about the course.... • There is a combination of school based training & provider-led training • You will spend Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday in your school • General Professional Studies takes place every Thursday morning • Subject Professional Studies takes place every Thursday afternoon • You will train in two different schools • You will have a visit to a primary school • You will also visit a special school • Support of at least three different mentors How long is the course? One year. The course will start the first week of September 2017 and will run until 30th June 2018. The course is full-time and you will need to be available Monday-Friday during term-time. What qualification will I get at the end? If you successfully complete the course, you will be awarded Qualified Teacher Status or “QTS”. Fee-paying trainees also work towards a Professional Graduate Certificate of Education (ProfGCE). Our ProfGCE is accredited by the University of Greenwich. Is QTS of equal value to a PGCE? QTS is the professional qualification that is required to teach in state schools in England and Wales. However, regulations vary in different countries – some insist on the academic qualification of PGCE. If you intend to teach abroad you should check the regulations in the relevant country. Both routes are equally promoted and valued and we have found that schools will want to employ great teachers regardless.

St. Michael’s CE (VA) Junior School Newsletter by Mrs Rumsey Friday, 5th July 2019 Dear Parents/Carers, The school choir performed 2 concerts at the weekend. One on Friday night at Anglia Ruskin University and one at the North Avenue Christian Centre in aid of Christian Aid. In both concerts the children were brilliant in both their performance and behaviour. We received an E mail from a member of the audience, it reads:- I was in the audience at the concert on Friday evening and just wanted to say that it was a wonderful performance by your choir - you must be very proud of them. A lot of hard work and enthusiasm had obviously gone into their singing I would also like to compliment them on their behaviour when they sat aside while the Anglia Singers performed. - A great credit to your school. I think that says it all. Enormous thanks to our wonderful parents who have been supporting the choir this year as we have performed across Chelmsford. You have been brilliant and I couldn’t have done all these events without your support. 1 On Thursday, 27th June, six Year fives went to Great Baddow High School to participate in a Spelling Bee competition. We came 1st and won by 1 point. At the presentation ceremony, we got gold medals. Thanks go to Mr. Leeding for driving the minibus, Miss Newman for taking us and Mrs. Orton for organising and teaching us. Report written by Max L. and Olivia Me. in 5O. Section 9 of the Academies Act places a duty upon the Secretary of State to take into account what the impact of establishing the new school is likely to be on maintained schools, Academies and institutions within the further education sector in the area in which the school is situated. Background 2. Becket Keys Free School will be a Church of England Secondary school in Brentwood, Essex. At capacity the school will accommodate 1,050 pupils from Year 7 to 13. It will open in September 2012 with 150 Year 7 pupils. 3. The proposal was submitted by a group that brings together two local Church of England primary school head teachers, the diocese of Chelmsford and the Russell Education Trust, an approved Academy sponsor. The proposers showed that there is strong parental demand for a Church of England secondary school that adds to diversity and range of choices in the Brentwood area. The school will provide a traditional academic curriculum and a distinctive Church of England ethos. 4. The proposers preferred site for the School is the site of the closing Sawyers Hall College. This is situated in the centre of Brentwood and has since been made available to the Trust by Essex County Council. The school has offered provisional places and has currently received positive responses from 141 pupils. This equates to the school having filled 94% of the 150 available places. The remaining places are being offered on a first come first served basis and the school will be establishing a waiting list if they become oversubscribed.
