  • St Tudy Parish Council Minutes
1 ST TUDY PARISH COUNCIL MINUTES - February 2018 Minutes of the meeting of St Tudy Parish Council held in the Village Hall on Wednesday 28th February 2018 from 7pm Present: Cllr L. Creighton-Clarke (chair), Cllr Z. Newland-Hodges, Cllr. T. Sandry, Cllr. M. Straugheir, Cllr J. Lane, Cllr. R. Clench, Cllr. G. Murrell, Cllr. S. Rushworth (County Councillor for St Issey & St Tudy wards), Simon Mitchell (clerk). Stephen Knightly, Keith Turner, Julie Clarke, Peter Colmer. Parish Council Meeting 1. Public session: Julie Clarke asked if the parish council notice board could be moved to the shop. Also whether the council could provide another dog litter bin at the end of Hengar Lane. The chair said that these issues would be discussed. Peter Colmer requested the subject matter of the Chair’s submission to the Planning Committee for March 5th hearing on Oak Park. Councillor Rushworth traced the history of Oak Park going to committee and said he would talk about need and the validity of the clustering approach at the meeting of 5 March for which it was something of a test case. He reported that the St Tudy boundary review would put St Tudy in with Tintagel and St Teath and that there was to be a review of parishes in 12 to 18 months time which might merge some parishes. Cllr. Stephen Knightly was present to explain the changes to the Phoenix Glen design, along with the owner. The plot had been moved, a slate roof was included and it’s toned-down modernism was more in keeping with the street scene in St Tudy.

  • Padstow St. Merryn St. Issey Trevone Little Petherick 2 a Message from Bishop Philip…
11 United Benefice of Padstow St. Merryn St. Issey Trevone Little Petherick 2 A message from Bishop Philip… A message from Bishop Philip… n this Diocese of Truro we are deeply committed to ‘Discovering God’s Kingdom: Growing the Church’. Ordained ministers are crucial to this task, so I sketch out here the kind of priests we are eager to come and work with us. First and foremost, we are looking for joyful and hopeful disciples and ambassadors of Christ: people who share the Gospel with energy and commitment, in word and deed - and above all with love. We are not looking for people who see themselves as omni- competent, but who are rather committed to setting the whole people of God free in mission, ministry, and in loving service. Further, we are looking for people who, on this journey, are imaginative and realistic, creative and determined and are hopeful of a better future. But we also want to work with those who recognise that they are not perfect and will sometimes fail, who learn from their mistakes and will take the initiative in seeking reconciliation with others. We are convinced that all ministers need the support and companionship of others and we help priests in a number of ways so that they never work alone. In this spirit, we encourage priests who can forge good relations with others and actively collaborate with them for the sake of the Kingdom to join us here in the Diocese of Truro. Finally we are looking for people who will love, value and serve Cornwall: a wonderful place with its own very distinctive identity and Christian heritage.

  • Bodmin Transport Strategy Development
Bodmin Transport Strategy Development Appendix G – Bodmin Strategy May 2017 Bodmin’s Transport Strategy sits within the context of Cornwall Council’s overarching transport strategy, Connecting Cornwall – as set out in more detail in section 2.17. Currently high volumes of traffic and congestion in the centre of Bodmin have resulted in localised congestion and an Air Quality Management Area (AQMA) being declared, which can be a barrier to further growth, unless appropriately addressed. There is a strong desire to see housing and economic growth, including the regeneration of the town centre. The proposed transport strategy aims to address current constraints within the town centre through the delivery of strategic junction enhancements to create capacity, while underpinning the sustainable aims set out in the LTP3, through the delivery of a much improved walking and cycling network, as well as an improved public transport offering. To support the enhancement of the town centre, plans are in place to deliver an innovative low speed environment along part of Dennison Road, through Church Square and as far as Shire House on Turf Street. The scheme will enable growth, whilst managing congestion and giving greater emphasis to the needs of pedestrians and cyclists, which in turn will help to manage air quality. Strategic upgrades are also proposed at Launceston Road/ Priory Road junction, Fiveways, Callywith Gate and Respryn to mitigate against the impacts of growth, improve conditions for pedestrians and cyclists and open up land for development, including two urban extensions located on the north-east and south-east of the town. Furthermore, Bodmin has identified an opportunity to promote itself as a cycle town, building on the back of the high quality cycle offerings on the periphery of the town, namely Lanhydrock, the Camel Trail and Cardinham cycle hub.

Summary of what is a rather large chart: BILLING update, December 2018. The rest of the family successfully finished their 1000 National Archives document R/5832 has a supposed date of 24 April 1512; but is This outline sets out the BILLING alias TRELAWDER family connections in Cornwall THIS LINE IS SHOWN HERE IN PURPLE ON THE LEFT HAND SIDE AS SET OUT IN 1874 BY THE HARLEIAN piece jigsaw puzzle; but sadly we have not been so successful in joining together the many over two hundred years. It is unusual to see an alias - our modern equivalent being the SOCIETY AND USED BY SIR JOHN MACLEAN IN HIS RESEARCH. endorsed with a note by C.G.. Henderson “This deed was forged about 17 Eliz. Uaunton BARNICOTT &- PEARCE, ATHEN^UM PRESS 1907 BARNICOTT AND PEARCE PRINTERS Preface. T is usual to write something as a preface, and this generally appears to be to make some excuse for having written at all. In a pre- face to Tom Toole and his Friends — a very interesting book published a few years ago, by Mrs. Henry Sandford, in which the poets Coleridge and Wordsworth, together with the Wedgwoods and many other eminent men of that day figure,—the author says, on one occasion, when surrounded by old letters, note books, etc., an old and faithful servant remon- " " strated with her thus : And what for ? she " demanded very emphatically. There's many a hundred dozen books already as nobody ever reads." Her hook certainly justified her efforts, and needed no excuse. But what shall I say of this } What for do 1 launch this little book, which only refers to the parish ot Mylor ^ vi Preface. The great majority of us are convinced that the county of our birth is the best part of Eng- land, and if we are folk country-born, that our parish is the most favoured spot in it. With something of this idea prompting me, I have en- deavoured to look up all available information and documents, and elaborate such by personal recollections and by reference to authorities.

1 AN UPDATE FROM CORNWALL ARCHAEOLOGICAL SOCIETY’S AREA REPRESENTATIVES Any opinions or errors in these articles are those of the authors and must not be assumed to be those of Cornwall Archaeological Society. JUNE 2019 Issue 31 This month: KNOWING OUR BOUNDARIES KEEN EYES AT OLD KEA PAINTING WHITECROSS NEWS FROM PENWITH DISPATCHES FROM VICE-ADMIRAL COLLINGWOOD KERDROYA BROADCAST FROM BODMIN STOP PRESS: APPEAL FOR INFORMATION!!!! KNOWING OUR BOUNDARIES Rosy Hanns has immersed herself in a massive endeavour to plot and record the numerous boundary stones in Cornwall. No doubt many of us have stumbled across (or even over) these mysterious objects while out and about and have wondered what the letters carved on them once signified. Though not the most impressive of features, they may indicate estate ownership or parish or other boundaries, and therefore help to tell the story of local land-use, social structures and power at the time of their placement. Rosy has sent in photographs of stones she has discovered around Treslea Downs in Cardinham and Warleggan parishes. The map below shows various stones plotted in 1881; now Rosy is recording these in order to inform Cornwall Council’s Historic Environment record (which can be found at https://www.cornwall.gov.uk/community-and-living/mapping/). 2 Treslea Downs from the 1881 Ordnance Survey Six- inch to the mile map XXVII.SW. Reproduced with the permission of the National Library of Scotland https://maps.nls.uk/copyright.html Spotting these stones on old maps is one thing; actually finding them on the ground is something else, as Rosy has found.
