An Act of Spiritual Communion

My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.

Reflection Sunday, June 14, 2020 Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ Read: John 6:51-58 Jesus said to the Jewish crowds: "I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world."

The Jews quarreled among themselves, saying, "How can this man give us his flesh to eat?" Jesus said to them, "Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life within you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day. For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him. Just as the living With St. Maximilian Kolbe we can say to Jesus, "You Father sent me and I have life because of the Father, so come to me and unite Yourself intimately to me under also the one who feeds on me will have life because of the form of nourishment. Your Blood now runs in me. This is the bread that came down from heaven. mine, Your Soul, Incarnate God, compenetrates mine, Unlike your ancestors who ate and still died, whoever giving courage and support. What miracles! Who eats this bread will live forever." would have ever imagined such!"

A Family of Fathers ~ Many of us know that busy schedules often get in the way of family meals. The residents in the rectory are no exception. Our priests (and seminarian) are setting aside Wednesday nights as their evening to sit down and have a meal together. Many parishioners have offered to deliver meals to the rectory however co- ordinating with all four residents is often difficult. For this reason, we have created a "Meal Train" sign up to co- ordinate meals to support this effort. If you would like to sign up for a date to provide a meal for the rectory, please click the meal train link. https://www.mealtrain.com/trains/k2d1ov The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, June 14, 2020 Page 8

Congratulations to Fr. Richard Rohr on the 50th anniversary of ordination. Father Richard Rohr, O.F.M., was born in Topeka in 1943, to Richard and Eleanore (Dreiling) Rohr. His sister Lannie Buford is a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary, and his brother Tim is a member of Sacred Heart-St. Joseph. His older sister, Carol Malecki, died this past February, and Fr. Rohr was able to celebrate at her funeral Mass. He was baptized at Holy Name, and went to Assumption Grade School. In 1958, the family made Most Pure Heart of Mary their new parish home. At the age of 14 he left Topeka for St. Francis Seminary in Cincinnati - a secondary boarding school for teenage boys interested in becoming priests. After 13 years of for- mation, he returned to Most Pure Heart of Mary to be ordained by Archbishop Strecker on June 13, 1970 and his first Mass was celebrated here the next day. During these last 50 years he has been home to celebrate Mass at Most Pure Heart of Mary for multiple family weddings, funerals, and baptisms. He had hoped to cele- brate again this June but the pandemic had other ideas. He thanks our parish Fr. Richard Rohr’s first Mass at Most for always welcoming him back and making him feel at home.
