TUFFLEY ROVERS VS. HAREFIELD UNITED TUESDAY 1ST SEPTEMBER 2020 / 7:45Pm KICK OFF TUFFLEY ROVERS VS. HAREFIELD UNITED TUESDAY 1ST SEPTEMBER 2020 / 7:45pm KICK OFF THE EMIRATES FA CUP EXTRA PRELIMINARY ROUND OFFICIAL PROGRAMME 20/21 01 EDITOR’S COMMENT Welcome to everyone visiting Glevum Park this afternoon, for our first game of the 2020/21 season. We start with an Emirates FA Cup, Extra Preliminary Round tie and I’d like to offer a warm welcome to the visiting players and club officials, as well as any visiting supporters. Away supporters might be few in number, as Harefield United face a 200 mile round-trip to Glevum Park tonight. We exited this, the greatest cup competition in the world, at this stage last year, as we were beaten, after a replay, by a team from the same league, North Greenford United, so we know that today we will meet challenging opposition. The year before we lost to another Spartan South Midland Premier Division team, Colney Heath, and so I’m sure Coxy will be hoping it is “third time lucky” as we look to book a home tie against Leighton Town or Abingdon United in the next round. The last season ended with something of a whimper, just as we were finding form, due to the Covid-19 pandemic but, if truth be told, 2019/20 was a pretty awful season for many clubs, with the weather, then the virus putting paid to our campaigns. Unlike twelve months ago, the squad has a very familiar feel to it, despite the change in our management team, and that is reassuring. The last two FA Cup exits have come at a time when our squad has been going through an evolutionary phase and when I look back on the defeat to North Greenford 12 months ago, the squad is unrecognisable. We are definitely a better side now, but that will count for nothing if we don’t produce a performance tonight. On that note, I want to take this opportunity to acknowledge the contribution of Mark Pritchett, who recently stood down as first team manager. I will personally miss working with Pritch and it was a sad day when we accepted his resignation. There is hope that, after a short break, he might continue as a player, but if that is ‘it’, I’d like to say that the last four years have been a blast and “thank you”. We are trying to continually adapt – standing still is not an option – and hopefully visitors who are familiar with Glevum Park will recognise the further progress that has been made during the extended close season. JMJ Fabrications have, once again, been a great supporter of the club and with their help and funding support from The Football Foundation, the new pitch-side barriers have been installed. The last six months have been a real challenge for many clubs. It is good to be back in competitive action tonight and all I can say, in closing, is may the best side win! If it goes well, thirteen more wins and we will be holding the FA Cup ahead of the 2020/21 season, as well as looking forward to a season in European football…well, you’ve got to dream! Thank you to everyone who has visited today. We hope to see you again at Glevum Park this season – we need your support more than ever. - Neil #uptherovers CHAIRMAN’S COMMENT I would like to start by welcoming everyone visiting Glevum Park this evening, for our first home game of the season and I hope that you have an enjoyable experience. Welcome, in particular, to our guests from Harefield United. During the extended break from football here, we have been able to upgrade our hospitality offer at the ground and complete the pitch-side barriers, installing a path at the bottom end of the ground and adding some additional drainage. Much of this isn’t possible without a good team involved and I’d like to offer a huge thank you to our volunteers that have given up countless hours to ensure your visit here is safe and Covid compliant. Please be respectful of our volunteers, if one of them does need to remind you about practising social distancing. On the pitch I am looking forward to the season ahead and hope that the team can kick-on from where they left off last season. In particular, I am hoping that Richard Cox (our Caretaker Manager) and of our other managers and coaches can have a successful season. Coxy has faced a bit of a challenge in taking up the reins at such short notice, although he has probably been helped a little by the fact that he has a settled squad to work with. In addition, I would like to thank all our sponsors for their continued support which goes a long way in helping us be able to manage this fantastic club. JMJ Fabrications, Altripan UK, Severn Signs and A&R Light Haulage Ltd., in particular have been very supportive of the club in recent months. A good FA Cup run is a real bonus to clubs at this level, so I hope that we can do the business tonight. Don’t forget there are no replays this year, nor extra-time at this stage, so if the scores are level at full-time we will have a penalty shoot-out. On a separate note, our third team are now less than a week away from their 100km charity walk, in aid of Heart Heroes. At the time of writing they have already raised over £1,600 for a local charity that helps young children and their families who are living with heart conditions. We’ve been overwhelmed with the support they’ve received, both from within and outside the club, and I will be joining them on the walk. If you are able to dig deep and donate via their Virgin Money Giving page that would be fantastic! We’ve included a page in today’s programme to advertise the work of this great charity. Thank you to everyone who has visited today. We hope to see you again at Glevum Park this season. - Dan Boon #uptherovers MANAGER’S COMMENT Hello to all of those who are visiting us today, including our opponents from Harefield United. In my opinion, the most important thing for Tuffley Rovers, ahead of the 2020/21 campaign, was to keep the squad together from last season and we’ve managed to do that. The squad is basically an Under 23s squad, sprinkled with a couple of experienced members who understand what Tuffley Rovers is all about, so we are delighted to have kept this group together and hope to build on the foundations created last year, so that we can keep progressing and move on to the next level. Pre-season has ensured all the players have had plenty of game time and we were able to work on a few areas we want to integrate into our philosophy. All in all, we’ve had a decent pre-season period. The FA Cup ties are always an exciting occasion and I’m sure we will give it our all against dangerous opposition. The biggest factor for me is that we have no regrets come the final whistle and the players ensure that they do the club and all of you proud. Thanks for the support today. - COXY Heart Heroes work with children and their families living with heart conditions. We aim to provide services for these children, to help them meet others who are in similar situa- tions and allow their family to talk to other families going through related experiences. At Heart Heroes we: • Support children with heart diseases aged 0 – 16. • Organise events and provide socialising opportunities for children to attend. • We aim to introduce families with similar experiences so that they can support each other. A warm welcome to our visitors. We have already faced up against Harefield this season, a 3-1 defeat at Preston Park, which saw both teams reduced to 10 men and ourselves going down to 9 at one point. This afternoon, we hope for better, with ourselves being unbeaten in 7 in the league and having lost just once in 12 games (all comps). On Tuesday, we played out a 2-2 draw against Eynesbury Rovers. Another point gained as we climb to 11th in the league, despite us being 2-0 up courtesy of a Danny Webb brace. What a season that man is having. Bleacher Report and ESPN shared his goal against Tring on their social media accounts. A massive feet for us, with the total view count of that goal at around 500,000. For context, that is 5 and a half Wembley Stadium's. Crazy numbers. Coming up this week, we travel to Shefford & Campton on Tuesday in the league challenge trophy.

I though ‘It’s not going to be bettered.’ ‘We’re not going to get anyway near it.’ ‘Clubs aren’t going to want to do it again.’ The harder thing to do would be to reimagine it as something completely different, bigger and better. Guess which route we took? The Hopper & Son Non-League Challenge Trophy was born long before the completion of our virtual FA Cup. One of the trickier parts to our original competition was the necessary omission of 100-200 Step 6 clubs due to the limited number of entrants that the FA Cup offers. Those that missed out included some of the fantastic clubs we’d visited in the past and, although they may never have know and, even if they did, they may not have cared, I felt bad.

  • NORTHWOOD V HAREFIELD UNITED Middlesex Senior Charity Cup Second Round Tuesday 4Th December 2018 - Kick-Off 7.45Pm WELCOME to NORTHWOOD
Woods The Official Matchday Programme of NORTHWOOD FC - ISSUE 13 NORTHWOOD v HAREFIELD UNITED Middlesex Senior Charity Cup Second Round Tuesday 4th December 2018 - Kick-off 7.45pm WELCOME TO NORTHWOOD ello, and welcome back to The Acretweed Stadium this evening; welcome to our supporters new and old, and to all connected with our near neighbours Harefield United HFC; we trust they enjoy their stay with us, and have a safe journey home later. This evening’s fixture is a Middlesex Senior Charity Cup second round tie, this being the first time in six years that we have entered the competition. Three times over the years we have reached the final of this cup, though we are still awaiting our first success at that stage, having lost at the ultimate stage in 1994, 2003, 2005 and 2012. That most recent final reverse will remain in the minds of those Woods supporters who watched the game – we led Ashford Town 3-0 before being pulled back to 4-4 and then losing on penalties; not the club’s finest hour!! The heavy rain at the weekend took its toll of the pitch here, resulting in the postponement of our Bostik League South Central fixture against Chalfont St Peter. Hopefully this evening’s game will go ahead without a problem; no rain was forecasted for today so we should be good to go… The last home fixture to go ahead, over a fortnight ago, saw the points shared with Hertford Town in a 1-1 draw, but it was a game that the Woods should have won, particularly as we missed a last- minute penalty.
