Studied in Stockton Wood Road Primary School, Joseph Williams Junior School and Liverpool Institute High School for Boys. Was encouraged by his father at an early age to try out multiple musical instruments. At 15 years old, he met John Lennon in a church festival where they both performed. He later joined Lennon's band, The Quarrymen. In 1960, the group changed their name to The Beatles, wherein other members, George Harrison, Stuart Sutcliffe and Randolph Peter Best joined afterwards. The Beatles began recording in 1962 which paved its way to international stardom. In 1970, the group was disbanded which left McCartney to pursue a solo singing career. He released a solo album, McCartney, in 1970. Also ventured into music publishing with MPL Communications in 1971. Went on to form a new band, Wings, with his late first wife, Linda joining the group, the same year. Wings released eight albums prior to disbanding in the early 1980s. McCartney tried embarking on a solo career again and released his second album, McCartney II. In 1998, his wife, Linda, died which caused McCartney to go into seclusion. In 2000, he released "A Garland For Linda", a tribute album wherein the proceeds were donated to help survivors of cancer. Remarried in 2002 to Heather Mills.
