THE FOUR ETHERS AS A BASIS FOR a workshop with ULRIKE WENDT

at Pereder Centre, East Grinstead May 29th 7 – 9pm May 30th 9.30am – 6pm

The etheric is the basis of eurythmy, when one speaks about it however, it proves difficult to under- stand or to get to grips with. Most eurythmists have a basic feeling for it in their training, but the capacity for a differentiated movement reflecting the different qualities of the etheric, cannot be taken for granted. The aim of this weekend workshop is to begin to develop such a concept of movement.

The american eurythmist (1904-2008) engaged in life long research into the move- ment types of the four etheric qualities. This work can lead to an intensive qualitative experience of pure etheric movement, and how it can be clearly differentiated from the astral elements in movement.

Another useful way in to experiencing the etheric, can be found in the research into formative forces following Dorian Schmidt's methodology. The faculty of perception of the etheric in eurythmy can be opened especially through exercises in formative forces research.

We will make a start working in these two areas in this workshop and then move toward transforming our experiences in music and speech eurythmy where the question of dynamic will be focused on.
