SEATON, FRED A.: Papers Miscellaneous Memorabilia Series, 1896-1950

SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE

The Miscellaneous Memorabilia series consists of approximately 1,000 pages of material which was not part of any of the major series. The material was received loosely or in envelopes mixed in with books, photographs, and museum items. Included are personal and business correspondence of his father (Fay Seaton), mementos of Seaton’s childhood, high school years, college and fraternity life; a manuscript of a mystery story; speeches and other material documenting Seaton’s early affiliation with the Republican Party, particularly Alf Landon’s 1936 presidential campaign; memorabilia from the 1952 presidential campaign; biographical material; letters Seaton received from colleagues at the end of the Eisenhower administration; and a few items from the post-administration period. The material was place in folders with titles devised by a staff archivist. The folders are arranged roughly in chronological order.

In addition to the 1,000 pages described here, approximately 100 pages were interfiled in other series where they apparently belonged.
