Light shines in on fresh administrator

By Scott Kates The president's office in Tower Hall is much brighter. The room is painted a lighter shade, her husband's colorfully abstract artwork hangs on the walls and the sofa has been replaced by a conference table. The shutters have been thrown open. SJSU's new president, Gail Fullerton, stands in the light. She is a woman who has steadily ascended the academic ladder to the top. Her scholarly background is in sociology, a discipline she has written about extensively and taught to students for more than a decade. She made the break from teacher to administrator in 1972 as SJSU's first female dean of graduate studies.
